  1. Striking Queen Silvia!!! This gown is so beautiful, the cut and the color blue just perfect for her. I have always been stunned by her wonderful hair, perfect for her and makes her look forever young. I bet she hasn’t a grey hair, good hair-genes ;)

    1. Silvia is 77, and she most certainly has grey hair, but has been dying it for years. I agree that she has a wonderful head of hair, and not only does it look healthy and well-styled, it is also thicker and stronger than what most people have at that age. Definitely good hair-genes.

    2. She will be 78 in December, and she looks her age. She's bound to have heaps of grey hair and what we're seeing in the picture could be a wig for all we know. I think it is excellent that she is growing older like people do, and although she has had cosmetic surgery she has not gone over board. I think it is good to welcome people of all ages, and women in particular, so that we learn to see beauty the way it changes over the years. Older age has beauty younger age does not know about, and younger beauty does not understand its beauty the way older beauty does. It's all part of life, and every age is beautiful, grey hair and wrinkles included. - Ellie

    3. I often wondered if Silvia wears a wig, because I've never seen any roots on her (unlike Mette-Marit, Máxima & Mathilde), not even during lockdown. Her hair color is too dark for her age, it's not natural, it actually ages her & doesn't fool too many of us (I do not color my gray hair), sometimes with no natural highlighting. Yes, her mother was Brazilian, but even Brazilians go gray (her mom dyed her hair). I've always admired Paola, Margrethe & Elizabeth for keeping their hair natural. ~Laurel~

    4. Regarding Queen Silvia's hair--I would imagine she does have gray or graying hair given she is in her late 70s. My grandmother had very dark brown hair well into her 70s--and never colored her hair, going gray slowly and naturally into her 80s. But, if Silvia wants to continue coloring her hair she should--she looks great. As for how much hair she has--look at pictures of her in 30s--she has LOTS of hair. Yes, she has worn hair pieces for extra volume for years, especially with up-dos. Again, the same grandmother with the dark hair had a head full of luxuriant hair until she died. Some women are, as AnnaFia, blessed with good hair genes!

  3. Silvia's dress has a lovely colour and style, although I am not a fan of any glittery fabric. I find her pearls not a good choice with the dress; I think no necklace was necessary with the neckline and the shiny fabric, and blue earrings such as blue sapphires would have been a great match and all that was needed. - Ellie

  4. Belle robe merveilleusement coupée pour sa silhouette ; la masse de ses cheveux se prêtent toujours au brushing ; elle a l'air d'adorer son petit collier !

  5. It doesn’t matter if the mink coat is old.
It should have been left at home.
By wearing it she condones a filthy trade.
The signals she is sending out are
    deplorable.
As far as I know, she and the queen in Denmark are the only royal women who persist in wearing body parts from dead animals.

    1. And all the other royal women wearing leather shoes and handbags every day are not wearing body parts from dead animals? Right.

    2. Exactly, Anon 14:29. Here we go, but people still eat animals & that seems to be okay. Science manages to extract all sorts of things from animals for medicine & other items we have no idea of. If royal or other ladies want to wear their old fur coats, let them (and I speak as a strict vegetarian). ~Laurel~

Shoes, bags, belys and gloves are made of leather which is a bi-product from the meat and dairy industri.
Minks and other animals are bred and killed for one purpose only.
    See the difference?

    2. No, I do not see the difference. In my opinion it's hypocritical to eat meat and wear leather, yet criticize Silvia for wearing fur. For all these purposes, animals are bread, often kept in horrific conditions and then killed.

  10. How lovely and elegant both the Queen and King look. Queen Silvia is wearing a beautiful gown and her jewels are very pretty. She always looks so wonderful in these gala appearances.
