  1. My favorite is Princess Benedikte. I think she looks great in that autumn colored printed coat. The pattern adds interest but is still respectful of the occasion. I'm usually not one for larger necklaces, but I like hers. Queen Margrethe looks good in her suit, I like her matching hat. CP Mary looks tired (she has been quite busy lately). Nice suit, but I wish she had a small pop of some color, she almost looks like she is at a funeral.

    1. I agree,. Princess Benedikte is my favourite choice here too. I like the Queen's outfit but Crown Princess Mary's outfit is too sombre for me, though I love the very smart jacket.

Crown Princess Mary looks very stylish, as usual at this event. Really nice fall look. The close-ups are a bit unfortunately because she looks sad/tired. I hope everything is okay, she usually looks happy and glowing all the time.

Like her outfit though may be in brighter fall color?

"looks tired" and "unfortunate closeups": Princess Mary is 49 and at this age one has wrinkles. No one takes notice if it is a man. Plastic surgery champions and photoshop should not be our guide to beauty. (-Ann.)

      Well said.
In addition, It much depends on the makeup, the light and angle of the photos.
I can see a very light foundation and probably no face primer and only a little amount of corrector have been used.
Another fail is wearing such a dark blush( a brick shade) on a very light foundation like this.
Her navy paintsuit is perfection as well as her hair, accessories and gestures.

I never said anything about wrinkles. I only said she looks tired/sad. That has nothing to do with wrinkles (or weight for that matter). It's more the look in her eyes. But in the pictures that were added later, she does look happier. So probably those were just unfortunate close-ups.

Mary wears a really beautifull jacket.
Simple and not overdone is her style and I think it has class.
She doesnot look tired, she just looks her age, which is good.
Queen Margaretha: Never dull, and her lovely sister, always very charming!

  6. Quelle élégance chez toutes ces dames mais particulièrement la princesse Benedikte dans ces couleurs automnales ; beaucoup de goût dans le choix de son gros collier !

Very stylish suit on Mary and the hat and handbag are the spot on. Benefited coat looks also good. - Siri

Agree that Mary looks tired. I love her gloves, shoes, clutch & hat. Mary's burgundy accessories and Frederik's tie pick up the colors of the Queen's and Benedikte's outfits. The Queen looks good. Benedikte looks lovely.

Video of the event shows a very loud demonstration outside Parliament which got louder each time the royals arrived. I think they were disconcerted and it explains Princess Mary’s expression. Elle

      What was the demonstration for?

    2. It probably was about the Faroes hunters slaughter of dozens of whales (53) just days after the largest dolphin massacre (1428 dolphins). The Faroe islands are part of the Danish realm.

    3. It could be part of the demonstration about Syrian refugees being deported from Denmark. It is a demonstration which appears to have been going on for some time. The opposition party are against the deportation of these refugees and probably used this occasion to highlight the issue. It is an issue that is making a lot of noise in their media at the moment.
I don't think is is anything to do with the Danish monarchy, their popularity etc.
Maybe a fellow blogger from Denmark could confirm the situation.

    4. There is a tradition to demonstrate at the opening of parliament. This year there were at least 7 different groups, demonstrating according to newspapers on f.ex. Climate, maintainance obligation, school chess, LGBT, Corona and animal fences. There was a very aggressive group of conspiracy theorists, who yelled “traitors” at politicians and were rude, when the royals arrived. They were threathening to journalists and reporters as well. You can see that the politicians are affected too, just like Cp Mary. But the queen is not one to show concern. She is smiling as usual through this!

  10. CP Mary--very fashionable look with the perfect accessories for fall. I love her brooch and would love to know more about it. Princess Benedickte is elegant as always--beautiful fall colors. HM's ensemble is totally her and she looks so happy--greeting her family and entering Parliament. CP Frederik is so handsome!

  12. I miss that picture, where Mary curtseys to the Queen.

Glad that curtseys thing exist in just a few countries and hope it will dissappear completely with the younger generation of royals.

Princess Benedickte top marks, Queen Margarethe her usual ebullient self, CP Mary ho-hum. It strikes me as odd that Mary wore a pants suit as I had the impression in the past that an effort was made by all royal family members to dress very nicely for the opening of parliament and always with a hat. Also her colors are too dark, the burgundy accessories are not enough to brighten the unrelieved neck-to-toe navy.

I miss seeing Princess Marie here, as I like her fashion style. I find the absence of Prince Joachim & Princess Marie a bit puzzling. CP Frederick has only the one sibling - look at how supportive Bene is of the Queen. Won't Fred need Joachim's support as time passes and the Queen shifts more duties to Fred? Reminds me of Prince William and Harry, sad that the younger brothers do not step up to the plate to help with royal duties. But then I do not know what goes on behind the scenes, just speculation on my part. S.M.
