Me too. Lovely colour and works so well with her shoes, hair and sun tan!

The King looks better he too, though I don't like the beard.
His looks has been rather unpolished for a long time, but now it seems to be in the right direction for him.. ;-)

Unfortunately the dress looks like a blue pup tent.

    I like! Especially the color.

This is a no for me, the fabric is too shiny for a day event, the oversize belt buckle is distracting and unflattering, interestingly enough it looks good on the model with a 50’s vibe, but not on Máxima. If one must wear pantyhose, there are many high quality brands that can make mature legs look good, but the overly shiny style that she is wearing are just terrible. The hair as usual doesn’t help. On a positive note, I think the color is fantastic.

"If one must wear pantyhose..."🤣 I was going there myself. I was thinking she may feel that the shine add to the celebratory mood, but she wears them for all occasions. ~d

I agree. These dresses are good on women who are extremely thin. And the shiny pantyhose was fashion in the eighties. Nowadays like you wrote there are high quality brands that make pantyhose of such a high quality you can't see you are wearing them. Marcy

    3. I agree on all counts and for me the shoes are wrong too for the occasion. There must be another style that would look better?

  7. The color is fantastic, and the idea was there, but the execution totally failed. The shirtdress style is great. However, it goes all wrong with the shiny fabric and bad tailoring. And take that belt down a few sizes, lol. It could have been such a great dress.

  9. Oh, how happy I am to see Maxima back again! Wonderful colour of dress which contrasts beautifully with the orange of the Olympic team. Unfortunately, as many posters above have already stated, it is not flattering in shape, fabric or with that huge belt. I don't really care. Just glad to see her again.

Me too. I'm so pleased to see her back.
I've had to put a few drops of oil on my keyboard as it was starting to go rusty without Maxima.
I'm going to be kind to her as I think she gives priority to her work and is always doing the job with a smile on her face.
Fashion is just a hit and miss thing with her.
      Happy continuation dear Queen Maxima.

Too shiny, both nylons and dress material.
Slit, WAY too high for a married Queen.
    Hair, a mess as usual.
    Belt, too big.
    Color of dress fabric: great.

The mismatched blue colors of the king and queen's outfits.....

I am so glad to see that they honored their Olympians. They really did very well. The only thing I would add to the comments about Maxima's dress is that I think this was a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. A gust of wind and Maxima in just the right position and we would have seen a little more than we ever wanted to. The skirt needs to be fastened lower down to prevent the skirt from blowing completely open. Again, I must question Natan. This dress is worn by a queen. Was no thought given to this? ~d

    1. In answer to the above, NO the house of Natan can not think. The acquire high quality fabrics mostly in what appears to be silk and then proceed to ruin them with no clue how to tailor and pure carelessness in execution. Just look at how that hem hangs down at the back. The hem puckers at the front and it is either machine stitched or from pressing the edges the line of the bottom seam or hem is showing. I can't see which but where the skirt flaps open it looks like it is lined or has a very narrow hem.
That buckle would look OK if the sleeve cuffs were not there or the big sleeve cuffs but not gigantic buckle. One or the other less is more.
The shoes do not go with the occasion or the dress. Stilettos pumps for trotting about on the a brickwork terrace in what is actually a semi-casual summery fun meeting just does not gel. A pair of summery slightly dressy sandals would have looked better.

Wonderful dress in a vibrant spectacular colour. It could have been a few inches shorter like on the model. Agree with the comments on the shiny nylons. Indeed so many brands with fantastic nylons ( 8 -10 denier) that you cannot see someone wearing them.

  19. I love the dress but hate, hate the shiny pantihose. It looks terrible with a dress with short sleeves.

  21. Obviously she is not comfortable in her high heels, her hair is horrible. Do they not have a hairdresser in the king's palace? The dress slit goes too high showing a rather fat knee. All in all she looks (as usual) as a bank employee she used to be and not nearly as a queen.

Ugh! How is it obvious that she is uncomfortable in her high heels? I am afraid I don't see a fat knee. Maybe there are pictures elsewhere that I haven't seen. Even if there were, I still wouldn't say such a thing. ~d

I think she looks fabulous - love the dress and the colour. Minor quibbles: possibly slightly too shiny for the daytime. The slit is easily resolved - a couple of well-placed stitches or even a safety pin. Hair - usual thoughts, not really worth saying anything.

Dislike the high slit, if one of the British Royals did that, can you imagine the negative comments. She knew it was there, could have had them tack it down, so there would not be a oops moment.

Dislike the hair, the shiny stockings and material on her dress. The color of the dress in good, but the buckle is beyond silly.

Smiles are great all the way around.

Athletes, you all did a fabulous job of representing your country. Thank You.

    1. Personally I assure you that I try to comment with maximum objectivity; I seem to remember that we have seen Dss Catherine with a similar slit without causing any problem.
But I don't think we can expect Qn Maxima to place stitches on a dress, as suggested. She definitely does not really have a "traditional queen look" here and that is ok for me; she is allowed to choose the style she wants, on official occasions she is perfect.
On this particular case I however think the royal couple could have chosen a more environmentally friendly schedule, ie postposing the event until they were back from holiday instead of travelling back from Greece and return, as it is mentioned in the press. It would also have been more cost effective. I am aware that my comment is outside the area of fashion but I wanted to say so. That is apparently how the Belgian RF will proceed.
