Royal Ascot is one of the highlights of the royals' summer calendar. The Queen did not attend the meeting in person on Tuesday, but is expected to take up her seat in the Royal Box later this week. I absolutely love D. Sophie’s hat! Her dress is lovely too, but overly long, which seems to be her length of choice. D. Camilla’s outfit is very fresh and summery. Zara’s hat is a typical percher style for her, and she wears it so well. And now on to P. Anne - the colour is good on her, and I like the pearls, but I wish she’d get another pair of sunglasses! 2. Oh what riches to end the day! Never normally like stripes, but this summery outfit of Camilla's is wonderful. And a fantastic hat. (Can't see her shoes in any of these photos so I am going to imagine that they are pale blue and match the dress!) Zara Tindall's outfit is also a winner for me, with a superb updo and another great hat. Princess Anne is as individual as ever but I like the purple, although it's a little heavy for a hot summer's day. Then there's the lovely Countess Sophie--I like the hat but the dress looks like the proverbial sack tied in the middle--it's shapeless, colourless and too long. However, a great event for royal fashion

    1. Well said, Annie. You summed up my thoughts exactly. Thanks
Just want to add I also love Zara's updo, it's awesome. And in that last picture, where she looks up to her husband, she looks stunning.

Will the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge be in attendance sometime this week hopefully?

    2. I hope so too! They almost always do last years, so I guess this year they'll go again. Sophie, Zara, Beatrice and Eugenie often go again later on, per example on Ladies Day.

Annie M, you have summed it up well. Camilla looks good here. The fabric is lighter than she typically wears. The stripes are a compliment. I am not sure, but the striped coat looks like it flairs out a little higher up than her clothes usually do. It focuses on the smallest part of her body which is flattering. I agree about the shoes. We can imagine they are something nice! Zara is beautiful, and her dress is wonderful. I don't know how long it is--hopefully longer than on the model--and she has belted it in just the right place since she has just given birth. Her hair is on point. I imagine Anne is wearing a years old dress, yet pulls it off in her own way. I have given up on seeing much new from her. Sophie doesn't look good at all. I think her dress does nothing for her, both in color and cut. Her fondness for ankle-length dresses puzzles me. They age her and often leave her drowning in fabric, making her look bigger than she is. ~d

Annie M - Daily Mail always has oodles of photos. Camilla wore her black-capped shoes from the other day & other-other days. (I can't stand those shoes on her or on Queen Silvia!) Here's a photo:

Camilla's colours and stripes are excellent, although it's the same dress over and over again, just in a different colour and pattern. I think Sophie's dress is lovely with the exception of the too heavy sleeves, and I think she needed a better bra for this dress. - Ellie

Sophie, no, oh no. That outfit looks really odd. Looks like she and her friend coordinated the colors. Too long, undergarments are missing, or she needs better uplift, and way too long. The only good thing is the color of the outfit and her shoes. Not a fan of Zara's dress, though her hat and hair looked great.
Princess Anne won the day with terrific colors and everything well coordinated. jj

Zara knocks it out of the park! Dress and hat both stylish and well-matched, love that her hat includes black accents exactly like her dress, plus gorgeous up-do. Sophie looking decidedly dowdy, the dress is wrong in so many ways - shape, size, color, and her hat is tipped too extremely to one side. The attractive lady next to Sophie in picture 7 (both are wearing similar color tones) looks superb. Camilla standard fare, not good, not bad, although she should lose the matching mask - there's something disturbing about the stripes continuing from dress to mouth area - however her hat is a winner! Princess Anne looks fresh and youthful, she seems to up her sartorial efforts for major horse events. S.M.

Most of the outfits in Ascot are nowadays more or less ridiculous, just like stage costumes. It's very hard to find anyone really stylish. Some pieces can be quite nice but hardly any beautiful ensemble. Sophie's outfit could have been nice, but ill fitting and the length spoils it. -Lisa

I love Sophie's hat and shoes. I love the colour of the dress. But for me there's a couple of quibbles ! Good undergarments are essential, and can make or break an outfit ! In this instance it spoils the outfit. Not a fan of the tie waist look. It draws the eye to the midriff, and can not always be flattering! The length is too long for Sophie. She looks like she's swamped by all the extra flow of material. A shorter knee length version would have been perfect.
I love the fresh linen look of Camilla's dress. Love the colour and love her hat !
I like the light weight look of Zara's dress, but again, not a fan of the tie waist.
Hoping see the Cambridge's attend this week . Ana

  12. Duchess Camilla is wearing a light summery coat, as I could see on other pictures in the internet (Hello Magazin). There is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing the same style of clothing if you know you look good in it and it suits you well.

  13. Overall most of the outfits are underwhelming to me. Camilla's dress has a nightshirt/ morning coat vibe, and the matching (fashion accessory) mask is just too much.
Sophie's dress is way too long and flowing, sleeves, tie belt and length are doing her no favours.
    P. Annes dress looks ok, but the skirt could do with a few more inches in length and the jacket looks too big and what is with that fringed scharf hanging around?
Zara's dress looks better on the model, on her the waist is too high, but overall it looks pretty good, I like the hat.

Sophie’s dress could have been such a winner, it only needed to have the hem shorten , but foremost she need to wear the right bra, her bust line is just terrible and no matter how pretty the garment it would be ruined by the wrong undergarment. Camilla is dressed as she usually does age appropriate and very old fashioned. Anne’s dress is too short, the whole outfit is dark and more of the same. Zara looks fantastic I wish we could see full body pictures, I really like that playful dress, her hair and hat are great if you do like that sort of style, but then is Ascot!!!
