On June 23, 1991, King Harald and Queen Sonja were blessed in Northern Europe’s largest cathedral, the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheimon the occasion of the coronation of the King. According to Scandinavian dress code tiaras are worn only when gentlemen wear white tie (frac) or gala uniform. Black tie (smoking) = no tiaras.

  2. Beautiful pictures and a stunning gown! Usually I'm not fond of dresses with much layers, but with keeping the top simple and almost no accessories, it looks really good. The deep rich colour is amazing and I love the gorgeous bodice!

Two of my most favourite people, and they look stunning!
Queen Sonja's dress could have looked too fussy, but the overall styling and minimal jewellery makes it shine more than I'd have expected. The colour too is glorious and oh so regal.
Congratulations to you both, King Harald and Queen Sonja. May you reign for many more happy and healthy years.

(PS: I'm just wondering....could that be the train of her dress wrapped and pinned to the side like some brides dresses do?)

Beautiful styling, I can't belive it is 30 years ago! The colours and jewels of the Queen is superb and the King looks dashing. Happy anniversery!
