The celebration of the "Day of the Armed Forces" dates back to 1978, when an annual commemoration and national holiday was established to honor the Armies and promote knowledge and integration between them and society. It started as a purely military celebration, but with time became a more colourful and popular event.

  1. Je suis ravie de revoir ses boucles d'oreilles ; elle a une silhouette qui supporte vraiment bien cette robe-manteau rose pastel ; en l'harmonisant avec une pochette et des escarpins d'un rose plus soutenu, c'est très élégant !

  8. Love the coatdress and the rose-colored shoes and clutch. In my opinion, this is the best coatdress I have seen. Her earrings are nice too.

While she usually hits the mark, this ensemble is way beyond perfect.

  10. I like the colour and the clean design, but I find the proportions off. The coatdress is a tad too long and the buttons seem to be placed too low giving the impression of a weirdly long torso. The whole outfit is hanging low somehow. The superhigh heels balance things out a little but cannot correct the proportions fully in my view.

    1. I agree with you. The outfit is smashing but it really does look like it was something off the peg but for a much taller person. Other than that it is really super.

I agree with both of you, I am glad I am not the only one who thinks there is something off with the fit of the dress. Not the usual fort-like-a-glove outfit that we are used to admire on QL. The dress seems too lose around the midsection and hips, it’s swallowing her. I agree with the remark about the weird long torso illusion. The color, while lovely per se, washes her out a bit, I think it would look great after the summer holidays with a tan, this pastel color requires a darker skin tone to pop

I also agree that the proportions are off. This dress seems to be designed for perhaps a taller person, or someone with different proportions. Everything seems too low or too 'dropped'.

  11. This coatdress is beautiful. The soft color with the rose shoes and clutch, perfect. The tailoring is spot on. I love her hair up here, just right for this outfit. King Felipe is so handsome.

  12. Once again a glorious outfit. I adore the whole look and the earings just add a little pop of modernity. Do we know who made the coat dress?

Beautiful coat dress, well tailored. l love the colour and the accessories. Queen Letizia is always impeccably dressed, although I think she and Dutchess of Cambridge and Queen Rania are way too thin.

@Comment Published Without Signing Your Name You are body shaming. ~d

    2. I often agree with you , -d, but not this time. Suggesting anorexia as in a post re Duchess of Cambridge last week, does not seem acceptable to me but comments on one’s figure, one’s height, how hair is styled are all relevant to overall appearance and, hence, how an outfit appears.

@AnnieM Of course dressing for one's figure, taking into account height, commenting on hair and makeup, etc. is all relevant. Quoting above, "...way too thin" is body shaming just as "...way too fat" would be body shaming. One is not worse than the other. These are triggers for some people, whether they have body image issues, eating disorders, or have problems with their weight. After years of seeing models demonstrating impossible thinness, and young girls and women feeling they can never live up to the ideal image of beauty, there is finally a shift in thinking. Love the body you have. Learn to dress the body you have. We are all beautiful the way we are. In my opinion, pointing out weight in any form is not alright.

Women can be thin due to genetics, excellent diet and exercise, or for medical reasons. It is not always due to an eating disorder. Keep in mind that children/young people are teased for being too skinny, not just for being overweight, even when they can't help it. Most people don't think about what it is like not being able to find clothes to fit due to being thin. Most don't consider the rude and cruel comments that come out of some people and the kinds of assumptions that are made. Can you imagine what it is like to have to consult a doctor or dietician because you want to gain weight, even though you are perfectly healthy, just so the painful teasing will stop? When it is a child being teased, it becomes painful for the parents as well. Anything that would not be acceptable to say to a person that is overweight is not acceptable to say to a person that is thin, or "way too thin". Period. I have done extensive work in this area, so this is not all my opinion. I understand that we do not agree. I must stick with my knowledge and experience on this. Respectfully, ~d

@ ellen. Most comments are about things that are done well. The color is pretty and the silhouette and accessories are appropriate for the occasion. A French twist would have added chic/elegance to the overall look. The other lady is not part of this post. Tearing other women down is not the purpose of the blog. July

    1. @July, well I suggest you read the comments on Maxima again, it is always about her hair and tearing her down. That's why I am mentionning/asking this.

    2. Anonymous31/5/21 16:51

@ellen, asking why she is not being criticized for her hair is tantamount to inviting others to abuse her. Maxima is not at this event to offer direct comparison. Perhaps other posters have taken into account that this is an open air event. Marie.

I'm happy to see Letizia stopped having her hair coiffured because it feels like she's decreasing her personal expenses during these difficult times. That makes her a queen who's connected to the reality of her country.
Love how the green of her earrings is popping out amidst all the pinks

I think all together it is a bit rigid.
Maybe with her hair loose and combined with other accessories could have made it more playful .
By the way: I hate those stiletto heels: make her posture a bit too upright.

What a pretty coat/dress. The proportions are perfect as is the length. The placement of buttons are in just the right places to accentuate the waist. The purse and shoes are a great complement to the outfit.
