It is a lovely springtime ensemble, so fun, chic and timeless. My late mom adored the interplay of black and white style motifs, and this reminds me of her, so I love it even more.

On a side note, I have tried to wear sling backs many times, and failed many times, no matter how often I adjusted the straps...but I admire women who can and do wear them so beautifully.

    2. I agree that Letizia's look is very chic. I appreciate her thoughtfulness in choosing a cropped jacket that harks to the traditional costumes and the Spanish slingbacks. However, I think her pants should be a tad longer - they are too high on her calves. IMO, they would look better around the lower third of her legs.

I usually love QL's style, but not this time I'm afraid - the whole look feels like she decided to rummage through her (or her daughters') childhood closet - short, tight, shrunken clothes. The shoes are the only saving grace, for me personally. Others may like this as it seems to be in fashion (specially the ugly trousers) but when something does not look good it simply doesn't work, regardless of the trend of the day. Me no like it

    1. I agree totally. I honestly cannot see the beauty of trousers at half mast. The jacket is really nice but worn in this way just does not work.

Totally agree about the trousers, the so called culottes. Whatever designer developed these unelegant trousers. And I really don't understand that they 're still there. Not one woman I know likes them. The jacket is lovely, as well as the shoes.

    3. Agree with you both. Perhaps, as the pandemic continues, the Queen may feel that a low key approach is more suitable but most of us are desperate for glamour. Even if it’s just nice summer dresses. 👗

The pandemic and they have to pay for Leonor's school, her budget for clothes is going to be cut. Their salary remains as always.

@ Helen, thank you for so many beautiful pictures. The traditional dresses are colorful and are distinct for each region based on what we see during their visits.
True to her minimalist style, the Queen has chosen a simple color coordinated outfit that dates back many years from her closet. The shoes are pretty. The girls will probably keep an eye on them. Great interaction with the crowd.
@ Z The top dates back to her Princess days. The striped sweater was worn with a high waisted black skirt to the Picasso museum. The cropped pants look like the wheat colored paper bag pants worn with an ecru blouse for one of her acts at the palace. (In other words, her own clothes) Picture #4 clearly shows that what she wearing is neither short nor tight. An opinion may be a good thing credibility is better.

  5. The shoes are Isabel Abdo's "Carrie" model, very similar to the Manolos above, but with buckles on the straps. Almost identical except for that detail. It's an artesanal Spanish shoe company.

There is something clown-like about this whole outfit, but I think Letizia pulls it off. The cropped pants still hit an off-note though, especially with the sexy shoes. Full-length slacks would have made this outfit look so much better. S.M.

  7. Encantadora Letizia.

I mean, her svelte figure makes this somewhat acceptable. But not sure if regal and certainly not flattering.

  10. I think it is a fabulous outfit. Letizia looks fresh, modern and chic and each piece is thought out and stunning. Royal clothing needs to consistently develop with the times and, for me, Letizia is doing this in a superb way.

Letizia rarely makes a miss in my eyes, but this time it's... messy, too much going on.
      I don't like it.
The pieces on itself are nice, nothing wrong with those. Only the culottes... I'm afraid I'll never like them.

I think this is one outdated jacket. I had several similar to this that I retired more than a decade ago. Because they have volume, they look best with a bottom that does not have volume, like a pencil skirt or cigarette pants. I consider the striped sweater a classic, and I like it tucked into her pants. I have no problem with her pants, and think this would have been a cute look without the jacket. I think the striped sweater makes this a casual outfit and she tried to elevate it with the jacket and shoes. Because I can only see this as a casual outfit, I don't like her choice of shoes. They are too dressy and I see espadrilles working better. ~d

She needs to quit with this style of pants.
    They simply are not attractive.

@03:18... she needs to quit? Wow! aren’t you bossy? Perhaps you should let her know that you disapprove. I guess that what you are trying to say is that you won’t wear this pants yourself. I would and I do, however never with such dressy shoes, in my opinion they look better with espadrilles or flats, just a personal choice.
I don’t hate the look but that Varela jacket has never been my favorite.

The jacket is by Burberrys, you can see the logo on the buttons.
And you can buy it yet.

Thank you Sonia, you are correct. That jacket was wrongly attributed to Varela for many years...
