The Countess of Wessex joined an online arts session with a group of visually impaired children. The Countess painted a bird box as children supported by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and their families also decorated wooden homes for birds. The arts session was led by artist Emily McFarland and aimed at encouraging children to get out into nature and listen for spring birds, and also marked the launch of the RNIB’s Shape and Share events for 2021.

The initiative includes craft and storytelling, pizza making and sessions on online safety. It runs from February to April and aims to encourage children and youngsters to make new friends, try new things, and engage in some much-needed fun. The Countess is a supporter of a number of organisations helping people with sight loss or impaired vision. She is also patron of Blind Veterans UK and a global ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

  1. The countess is hardly recognizable, quality of pictures is of course not at the top.

Sophie is very good at interacting with people - especially children, students, seniors. I met her thanks to the "Duke of Edinburg Award" project, which is patronized by Sophie and her husband, Prince Edward. She can listen very well, but she is also a very good speaker. She speaks to the point, is very well informed, no abstract salad of awakened noble words - as with some others who do not move without a crowd of photographers. Thanks to my job, I have met many important people and I can confirm that Sophie made one of the best impressions. Very nice lady.

Sophie is one of the most interesting royals I follow, and based upon photos, videos and interviews, she comes across as very personable, empathetic and intelligent. You're very lucky to have met her, and you're the first NMR commentator who has met her, as far as I recall. How wonderful it must have been to be in the company of Sophie. She is truly a royal gem. This is a great engagement for her and everyone involved. Bravo, Sophie!

    2. Anonymous 8:07, I believe every word you wrote. Of course I have never met her and I don't think I'll ever do, but I always had the impression that Sophie is a real asset to the british royal family!

Such important work at this time when some children are struggling, such an asset to the royal family. Sophie is one of the understated beauties of the royal family, style sophistication, not one of the me me generation. A great hard working mother who puts other before self.
