    1. Of course everyone wishes her a happy birthday, yes 📦🎂🍧 as nicely illustrated by MM.
However there is always a bit of "too much" on the side of the parents !! Look, all these balloons on the beach are likely to end as bad waste for the beach and the sea water ! Parents need to make their children aware of that !! I am not even sure this would be tolerated everywhere. Imagine it would be multiplied by xx factor. Of course there is the option that the parents make sure they recover the waste... To my knowledge Sweden is quite motivated in that area. I don't think we would ever see this from Victoria & Daniel, or Fillip & Sofia. Sorry for a non-fashion subject but maybe more important.

    2. MaryT, I highly doubt they would just leave the balloons on the beach. Being that they are for a young girl's birthday, I can almost guarantee they will be brought back inside, as said child will not part with said balloons. Besides, I don't think Madeline is that irresponsible in the first place. What a strange comment.

    3. Let the girl have some balloons on her birthday. It's probably an unusual one being that a celebration with friends and family is not advised. I highly doubt they are going to litter the balloons on the beach. What a strange comment indeed.

Chel, agree with your comment 100%.
I think there's no need to shame those who use balloons at the children's celebrations.
I 've been tought to clean after myself, not to leave trash behind. It comes natural. I even clean trash someone else left behing because it looks ugly lying there and encourage others to litter. Many haven't been tought cleaning after themselves. Sadly. But I doubt Pss Madeleine is one of those people and I'm sure she teach it to her children!

Since when its not ok to use balloons at the celebrations? They are instrument of fun and after horrible 2020 people deserve some fun in their lives. When people treat balloons correctly afterwards where's the harm?? I hightly doubt that Madeleine / Leonore left those balloons on the beach! Or you have other information?
I grew up in Sweden. We never left waste on the beach or in the nature! We never saw our parents leave waste behind. It comes naturally to collect the trash we made and not leave it behind. I don't know where MaryT lives, perhaps there's different? Newly arrrived people, who are not local, sometimes don't care what they leave behind. That is very sad to see for sure. But when you've lived in Scandinavia, then it seem to be inborn not to make rubbishy. No need to shame everyone because someone don't know how to behave.
BTW: Lovely photos of lovely young girl. Happy belated Birthday!

I agree with MaryT – balloons are bad for the environment and celebrating with them looks dated and unthinking to me. Litter is not the only issue. Helium is a rare element with many medical uses e.g. MRI scans, we do not have abundant stocks of it, and it cannot be manufactured. Even if balloons are thrown away in the home, we all know nowadays that there is no 'away' – they are just going to end up in landfill somewhere. And that's the most positive option, because if they end up in the sea they have a negative impact on marine animals, who mistake them for food and eat them, causing intestinal blockages and often death. Or they become entangled in the strings. Little kids don't need balloons for a happy birthday, and the sooner we break the association between balloons and celebrations, the better off the planet will be.

You don't need helium to fill 🎈 and make balloon garland from them. A balloon inflater (air pump) fill it with air, not helium or hydrogen. Or perhaps the whole family used their breath to fill the balloons?
As to waste.....I find it strange to think they threw the garland waste into the ocean. Really? When the balloons don't break you can untie them and then reuse them till they break or use elsewhere (e.g camping gear). No need to throw them away right away. Into the sea or ocean more so! Or you do so?

    8. I wrote my first post spontaneously without really investigating the subject. Since then, I read ABC was reporting about banning festive balloons in some US states. I think it is particularly interesting to make children aware of important issues about the planet and its resources, they usually pay a lot of attention to such messages. Surely it must be possible to have a great birthday without balloons, that is what I wish her.

MaryT's suggestion that "these balloons on the beach are likely to end as bad waste for the beach and the sea water" was unfair. Do you really think they are idiots and left those balloons lying there? Do you also tell badly to your host when you go to some wedding, baby shower, or some other party and see there balloon garlands?

If we are so worried about the environment, then royal ladies with their huge collections of clothes, shoes, necklaces, earrings, hats, bags are no source of worry? We comment on their fashion and admire their style choices.

At the end of the day CPss Victoria with her rotation of H&M clothes is no better. Fast fashion and their constant promotion of new trends and products has a huge environmental impact. More and more clothing end up in landfill after only a few wears because of new trends or bad quality.

Happy Birthday, to little bundle of joy!
Lovely pictures. Princess Leonore oozes energy from the pictures.
I have a 5-year-old and sometimes I wonder if I was as energetic and inquiring as he is...must have been ;)

Good Lord!! Now this has become a blog for everybody to preach from the pulpit... we aren’t idiots , most of us understand the impact of many things toward the environment. Some of you are going to extremes with your pedantic and judgmental platitudes.
