  1. They are just gorgeous. The Bhutanese definitely are the most attractive royals. Not that it matters! It's neat that she is marrying a relative of Queen Jetsun. I hope we get more on them in the future. I always wonder what it's like to study abroad in the US like she did and return to Bhutan. What did she think of the US?

    1. From Joann: I always think of those royals living in remote kingdoms cut off from Western cultures and traditions. But they are anything but cut off. From what I've read of them, they are highly intelligent, having been educated in various universities throughout the world. Even Empress Masako graduated from a high school in the U.S. and Princess Kiko once lived in Philadelphia (I think.) I believe the King of Bhutan studied in both the U.S. and England. What amazes me, though, is how these royals are retaining their country's traditions for future generations.

  6. Yes, a lovely couple. Best wishes to them on their marriage and a happy life to follow.

I think it's so charming that the younger brother of the queen marries the younger half sister of her husband the king. I have had that happen with three sets of friends, where the siblings of both spouses married each other. All of these connections were love connections and not family arrangements.

  8. Well, that was an interesting read. A beautiful couple, and I love the gorgeous colors of Bhutan traditional fashion. Let's see if a cute baby will be on the way soon.

Actually, also... Queen Jetsun Pema's older sister Yeatso Lhamo is married to the current king's older brother Dasho Jigme Dorji; they have a (4yo?) daughter. So that's three times so far in this family. I think there are still enough left to go around. Perhaps it's their custom (if the "spark" is there to make it work).

  9. They are a very attractive couple. Their traditional costumes are gorgeous! I love their style in the modern clothing as well. It is nice to see Princess Mako in her beautiful kimono, and to see her bangs swept to the side.
