On July 16, 2020, Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the youth camp of YouthStart in Uccle. At the camp, vulnerable young people are given the opportunity to participate in the YouthStart summer school for free. YouthStart considers it necessary that NEET young people (Not in Employment, Education or Training), who are at risk of becoming one of the main economic victims of the corona crisis, find their way in life through training.

Fostering entrepreneurial minded young people is a joint effort among 16 partnering organisations across Europe. Youth Start Belgium was co-founded in 1998 by Gaëtan Hannecart. Queen Mathilde has been Patron of YouthStart Belgium for many years.

  2. J'ai remarqué que Mathilde aime beaucoup la couleur fuchsia ; elle doit posséder plusieurs masques de cette couleur qui va à merveille à son teint de blonde !

Wonderful colors on blouse/mask. Wonder what the rest of the outfit looked like.

  4. I cannot see whether it is a blouse or a dress she´s wearing, but I don´t like it.
It´s extremely busy with psychedelic pattern, canary colours & frilly bits, and it is so closed-up with very high neck and long sleeves (and mask).
I really hope it´s a blouse, and that she´s combined it with a very sleek and simple, solid-coloured bottom , then maybe it can be saved.

As for the cause - nice to offer free education, but it won´t cure the economic fallout of the lockdown. It´s almost ironic thay they´re trying to "foster entrepreneurial minded people" while businesses continue to go bankrupt left, right and center. It´s also ironic to offer a summer school session after it was made impossible to attend school during the regular school term. It´s also ironic to invite people to gather at a camp after preaching social distancing for months and strictly forbid all sorts of gatherings. And honestly, looking for "unemployed rebellious dreamers without experience but with a thousand doubts" (as it seems to say on the thing in the background) sounds almost like a joke.

It must be that positive lack of cynicism that keeps you going.

  5. I love the colours of this blouse (I think) the frills take me back to the 80's . The Queen looks lovely.
