Due to the coronavirus pandemic, AFPRO Filters, Koninklijke Auping and Koninklijke DSM set up a consortium in mid-April. The goal is to produce approximately one million FFP2 classified medical mouth masks for healthcare professionals every week. The first masks were delivered to Minister Van Rijn on April 28.

Queen Maxima started her working visit with a tour of the production facility. During the tour, the Queen received information about the raw materials used for the mouth masks, and the special machines that were purchased for the production and the quality test. After the tour, Queen Máxima attended two round table meetings with executives of the company.

  1. Bien joli haut/corsage ; ce ne doit pas être pratique pour le boutonnage dans le dos.. Originaux escarpins à brides qui sont en partie transparents ; il faut aimer !

  2. oh dear, what a mess, sorry, but between the hair (could have easily been put in a low ponytail), the top (too short), the pants, (way to short) the shoes (dont get me started, 1- look trashy 2- not for a day occasion 3 - did I mention trashy), earrings, not for a day occasion, look horrid with the messy hair though a lovely smile.... 1. Oh dear! I have to agree to all of it. Her smile is her saving grace. I can not for the life of me understand why anyone wants to wear trousers at half mast however damp our weather is half the time. They are only usefull when you have to walk through a damp lawn and puddles. at least yor trouser bottoms stay clean and dry. They are sometimes OK with high boots under them but with high heaels UGH!

    2. Anon 9:07pm - AMEN to all that. Possibly the worst is the plastic shoes (like she forgot to unwrap them). The man at the table in the red tie is giving her the side-eye. Oy-oy-oy Máxima, this is one of your worst looks. ~Laurel~

    3. I agree.
I just fail to understand how she continues to "not get it".

    4. I find the repeated criticism on anything which is not traditional style terribly tiresome. Everyone can have his own opinion of course, but I cannot understand that every style different from classic standards is so toughly rejected, or even with sarcasm. A modern woman cannot be dressed like Pr Benedikt from DK for instance, I admit she is fine for her age.
Her top is quite nice for me, yes it is "short style" to be worn outside of trousers, it fits her very well. This length of trousers is quite trendy and I understand that Maxima and Letizia as modern women wear them. The shoes are a bit original yes, Again Qn Letizia has similar ones. They fit very well with her outfit. Ok for me, however if they can walk with them.... I will not comment on her hair, if she has decided to have that hair style.

    5. @MaryT: It's the SHOES (emphasizing, not yelling). Who - royal or non-royal - thinks that plastic shoes is a good idea... presenting as a QUEEN... at a public event. Save them for Hallowe'en or a costume party.

It would be different if the plastic were more on the invisible side, but it is overtly obvious and so tacky with these probably high-priced monstrosities.

Oh, I see - original price was $1,044, now 40% off (huge surprise) at $627. Still $620.99 overpriced.

    6. @Laurel Several royals have worn shoes with plastic. It is a way of wearing a shoe with less shoe, if you understand what I mean. Maxima is not pulling off this shoe well, but this is a nice shoe, or the idea is a solid one. The brand, Gianvito Rossi, is also a popular shoe with the royal ladies. The plastic does look too visible to me in this case. Given the brand, it is surprising. I rather see her spend this amount of money on these shoes than on some Natan creation.

    7. When I was reading a Dutch magazine (in English) last night, I came across the expression "the beauty of imperfection". Don't know why, but I instantly thought of Queen Maxima and her approach/involvement to/with fashion.

    Il y a quelque chose qui ne va pas;

    1. pili pili, I think your comment is incoherent and wrong regarding dates; you seem to suggest that the videos about Kate's involvement are not "work", while videos from other royals are, according to you. They did some videos together, they took part in "applause" for medical staff, just like other royals. Please remember William is not the direct heir to the crown, but Pr Charles is! If William were "overtaking" his father, he would be criticized as well. For the commemoration it is normal that it was the job of Charles.

  4. Totally agree with JT. She may be a good queen with a nice smile. But fashion wise, she's a walking disaster.

  5. It is lovely she does engagements during pandemic, so it is possible, just with more attention to safety measures.

  8. Actually I think the top is beautifully made and a classic.
But here you see that wearing one expensive article is not enough and easy to destroy by mismatched trousers, horrible shoes, unbrushed hair, and everything else you mentioned above.
    Such a pity!

  9. I cannot really like anything about that outfit except for the classic black-and-white colour combo.
But I am happy to see her out and about.

  10. Oh Maxima. For a woman that is so intelligent, I just don't get it. That top/jacket is way too small. Those shoes are beyond words. And seriously, the hair. The cropped pants are in fashion and I think are the only decent thing in these pics.

  11. I like the top but the fit lets her down. I love the classic combination of black and white but this look fails in execution. I am not a fan of the clear plastic strap shoe trend. I would have loved to see her hair in a ponytail or a topknot.

  12. I agree that this is a disastrous combination. I find Máxima exuberant and she seems very engaged and empathetic, but she can be tone deaf specially on these type of visits, where the attention should go to the efforts and sacrifice of the workers and society in general.
You don't have to wear over the top clothing to look regal.
You don't have to have a private hairdresser to look neat and well groomed, a slick and clean ponytail is always a good choice when you have long hair.
It's not difficult to find the right size, or have a garment altered to fit your figure.
It's not difficult to find a good brassiere with the right support.
You can tell that some women don't care much about fashion, and they always bank on confort and personal taste( Princess Ann comes to mind) but that doesn't seem to be her case, Máxima wears top designers, expensive jewerly and shoes, I just don't get it!!

  13. AFPRO Filters are to be commended for there diligence and hard work to be able to have a goal of one million health care professional masks a week. That is simply astounding. How hard they must be working behind the scenes. I can only imagine a visit from Queen Maxima would have been very uplifting. In this current pandemic the April delivery would have been very gratefully received and appreciated, by one and all. Lovely to see the Queen's engaging smile as always she looked interested and engaged. Well done.

  14. I like her top very much and I think the fit is as designed and in itself very pretty, going higher at the front in a nice curve. But her little pouch does not make it work as it should and could. - Shorter pants, well ... I don't like it, but it is fashion. I have no problem with the shoes, why not plastic, why not transparent, it suits the white-black combination well. A white-black combination like this is very flexible as for the occasion, without any shiny adornments it can be worn well for a daytime occasion. Ponytail for Max: Big Yes! (Ann.)

  15. There is nothing wrong with the individual pieces Maxima is wearing. The question is whether Maxima should be wearing them, and if they are appropriate for this visit. The first order of business is her pants since so many of you hate them and think anything cropped is ugly or too short. They are very much in style and there is nothing wrong with these pants. While she has worn some in the past that were baggy/oversized and looked terrible on her, this pair fits her well. Cropped pants keep getting the same reactions and it is really tiresome. At least learn the current fashions before commenting on a fashion blog. Maxima's top is very nice and does fit her--it is not too small, it is a shorter or cropped style top. I adore the button back and of course color, especially with the black pants. The problem I have with it is that because it is shorter in the front, it is exposing the pooch in her tummy. It almost frames it, then the bow on the blouse draws further attention to a place women would usually try to disguise. A stylist would never allow that top through the door. It is just the wrong top for her body type. I think that it would be a cute top on her daughter though. Her shoes are cute, and on trend. I do think they are a little over the top for this visit. A bigger problem I see is in the 5th picture. It may just be a bad angle or an illusion, but it looks like her feet are a little swollen and are puffing out of her shoes. That is the difficulty with shoes that have clear plastic. They work better if you are not prone to feet that swell. I think this outfit would have been a winner if she had worn simple earrings, worn a simple black pump, and simplified the top. The bow was too much and it was too short, but the idea was there. As for her hair, I don't think there is any point in commenting anymore. It is what it is.

For me, the worst part of this entire visit is the fact that they are standing in a factory that produces masks and not one person is wearing mask. I wish Maxima would use her in person visits to set the best example possible.
