The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to Los Angeles

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved from Canada to Los Angeles. The Duchess of Sussex was born and grew up in Los Angeles and her mother, Doria Ragland lives there. This week, Meghan’s long-rumored Disney documentary about elephants was officially confirmed. On Thursday, Disney announced that "Elephant," narrated by the duchess, will start to be broadcasted on April 3 on Disney. On Twitter on Sunday, President Donald Trump made a statement that the U.S. won't be paying for the security protection of The Duke and Duchess during their stay in the U.S. Trump's statement came after it was reported that the couple has arrived in Los Angeles.

They must pay!"

  1. Fashion please. Not speculation, gossip and statements from a President concerning a young married couple. Otherwise I'm going out to do my shopping. Maybe I should tweet Mr President with my threat of "going out to do my shopping". That should make him sit up and look.
Love the hat and the colour of the Duchess's outfit in the second photo and Harry's tie looks to have been well chosen.

Und damit ich nicht völlig OT bin: Der offene Hemdkragen steht Harry ausgesprochen gut.

  6. I respectfully suggest we move past the negative on this couple and the topic of them. Who's with me?

This green outfit she wore is among my favorites for her. She looked sublime. Makeup was perfect, a little darker than usual and that played nicely against the bold color.

    2. I definitely am!! Thank you for speaking up!

For those that are not familiar with California, many people say 'L.A.' when referring to So. California (which does not mean the lower half of California). L.A. does not mean 'Hollywood', either. The area known as 'Southern California' is larger than some small countries (namely Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium.) There are plenty of safe, private places to live.

They must have felt they really needed to be there but an island in remote Canada would be a much better place than LA right now, although they are probably in a very posh part, not where her Mother is. Trump needed to make the statement, especially now in the midst of this, people need to know the US is not using taxpayer money for millionaire celebs.

Wow Anna I truly do not understand your comments.
Besides the nearly 2 hr daily briefings focused on this from the President and various people overseeing all kinds of responsibilities both within the gov’t and private sectors, the latest today is the USNS Comfort which finished its maintenance and restocked, restaffed and arrived in NYC harbor today a FULL WEEK AHEAD of schedule which I just learned today included NYC dredging the harbor by 4 feet so it could even dock there. If all that does not impress people and the incredible speed and work being done, then they need to educate themselves about the details and logistics involved. The amount of equipment being newly manufactured and moved around the country in such a small time is just amazing. One CEO said yesterday that one NY hospital typically when full used 10,000 masks is now requesting over 300,000! If that is due to need alone then wow, if pilfering then still wow because masks are gone and still needed. The recreating of educational systems, meal systems, manufacturing equipment and support systems that so many Americans are feeling empowered to step up and contribute to is incredibly encouraging. None of that happens without support, removing of red tape and logistical changes, especially at the federal level directed by the executive branch. How anyone can look at the efforts and claim distraction or impediment is beyond me.

In light of no comments to clarify the conflicting reports regarding US funding security costs by Harry & Meghan on their instagram, it was very appropriate not only to me but even the people in my life who are a) completely non-political and b) completely non-royal followers for the Pres. to comment. Even more so given the current debt spending and economic state of so many in our nation, businesses like our lovely little tea shop my daughter works at have had their doors closed for over 2 weeks after 24 hours notice- closed at a loss with no income for all the families involved. So yes - millions for their security due to a spur of the moment move and undefined amount of time staying was an issue, now resolved by a quick Presidential tweet.

Not looking for any more discussion but just sharing my response and echoing Renea and Serena.
Once again, thanks so very much to so many working hard to help others.

    6. @Glo You don't want a discussion because you're in denial.

I do agree with you that it is heartening to see the citizens of this nation come together at this time.

But to think that medical professionals are pilfering masks and dedicating towards to resell them to profit from this pandemic is only a thought that a lunatic would have. The people on the front lines of this pandemic are sacrificing a lot. Trump came up with this conspiracy because a thief things everyone steals.

Additionally the two hour briefings are less so to inform and assuage the nation's fears but more akin to a Trump rally. Just the other day he was talking about how his briefings were attracting more viewership than the superbowl or The Bachelor. He is an attention seeking narcissist.

“De Nile” is a river in Egypt Anna:). Today FBI arrested a man in NY for hoarding and gauging medical supplies - enough to stock an ENTIRE hospital. Sounds a bit like pilfering, no? Everyone knows so many more people touch medical supplies/products between manufacturers and medical staff/end users who only you blamed- not me. So thanks, since your comments actually reinforced my earlier points- clearly people remember the 2hour press conferences more than this tweet being a distraction. Thanks also for noticing the incredible work which is not being impeded all around the country.

Imperfect people working hard and together to help one another truly is encouraging. I don’t agree with my current Governor on much but if he doesn’t succeed in this then guess what, my state won’t either, hint same goes for my President and my country.

Sorry I didn’t comment much on the fashion in my previous posts. The outfits were repeats my previous thoughts were yes (as usual) to her make-up and navy coat, mixed on the green-love the great color (she has a great eye for colors) and jewels, but make-up is bit too heavy and big no on the huge hat netting, extra fabric “capish” thing and fit/tight dress.

BTW- Not afraid of real substantive discussions and differences of opinions -happens ALL the time in our family, just trying to not take be too off topic:).

    9. They man in question, Baruch Feldheim, 43, of Brookyln, was NOT a healthcare professional. He hoarded these crucial supplies by purchasing them from auto shops, etc. and sold them at a 700% markup to desperate physicians and nurses who bought them to outfit their medical offices and colleagues. The price gouging of these physician and nurses is what tipped off the FBI and lead to Mr. Feldheim's arrest.

Trump had accused HEALTHCARE workers of stealing masks from hospitals and turning a profit. This was not the case. This was a similar situation to that Tennessee man who hoarded and price gouged sanitizer.

Obfuscating facts to fit your narrative works only if people don't do their due diligence and fact check. Try again.

Yeah Anna, not sure where you heard that but I can say for me I watched the live press conference from the Rose Garden on Sunday, March 29, when the CEO of a medical supply company gave the statistic about 1 NY hospital changing mask needs from 10,000 to over 300,000. The President then commented about checking in to the numbers suggested pilfering things “going out the back door”- tons of people from various areas of work (not merely healthcare workers) are in and out of hospitals on a daily basis not to mention the supply chain. The impression I and those in my family had from him was that somewhere between manufacturers and end users sadly things may be going missing. Just like what I said earlier and you changed it, different places (the first being an anti-Trump website with a definite partisan agenda) said that he meant this or that without asking him or the White House for clarification, but he did not say it. A few news outlets ran this again without reporters asking the White House or clarifying. Even Gov. Cuomo, who often says the same things but for many partisans is a more acceptable messenger, agreed with the President and as you’ve noted it turns out the President, at least in this instance, was right. Sadly times like these bring out the worst as well as the best in people.

Truly hoping that with people’s everyday efforts we can all work hard to show way better results than the projection models currently show.

Many thanks and prayers for all - especially over the next two weeks which in the US are expected to be intense.

Have a good day, stay healthy.

    11. The hospital workers are using more PPE because there are more patients (COVID-19 and suspected COVID-19 cases) been seen and workers need to ensure that they do not contaminate themselves or contaminate their patients and result in nosocomial infections. It's not that hard to understand why the demand for PPE has sky rocketed. Instead of pointing the fingers at nebulous claims that equipment is being stolen from hospital facilities Trump should invoke the Defense Production Act to increase the supply.

Additionally, I would be wary of only getting your news from the press briefings. Literally dozens of verifiable newspapers have report on Mr. Baruch but I guess you are willingly being selective about what you believe, true or not. I guess in your mind 100,000-200,000 American citizens is a fair price to pay to protect our economy. After all, Trump said it so it must be true.

Anna this will be my last post back to you or anyone about this here. Your latest response is like the character Captain Obvious with a dose a true slander, a very sad example indeed.

Of course there is a greater demand due to COVID-19- hence the Captain Obvious reference. The question is the extent for these amounts- this one man, according to DOJ, had procured 8 PALLETS of medical masks (unsure if those were specifically the N95 ones or not), in addition to surgical equipment- gowns, gloves, etc., had even sold ventilators, and a location full of other supplies including cleaning, sanitizing, & wipes. They have him on hoarding, lying to FBI & assault charges but no one has reported how he got them. He claimed to be in medical supply to the FBI and other who purchased but not sure if he did it procuring the items. If so then indeed fraud is theft- how a private person was able to amass that much by honest means would indeed be a surprise given the needs. To say people should just “expect” those numbers for PPE or cleaning demands and not look into it is so harmful and irresponsible because these things don’t belong to this guy (or any others like him) they need to go where they are most needed. If both Trump and Cuomo are communicating this then it should definitely be looked into which is what the President said and according to CNBC Governor Cuomo appointed a task force to do.

I have many sources for my news, INCLUDING press briefings from necessary government officials, as people can read from my factual citations.

Lastly your statement, regarding “100,000-200,000 American citizens fair price to pay”, is quite disgusting and nasty, and has absolutely no connection to any of my postings. It is ridiculous and not worth any continued discussion.

Still very thankful to so many working so very hard and wishing all, including you Anna, health and peace.
      Prayers,
      Glo

Good Lord!! When the world is in a very fragile place, the usual suspects find time to gossip, speculate and be unkind, starting with Mr. trump that never misses an opportunity to create conflict. Nobody ever imagined that this couple would ask the American Government for any protection, and obviously they confirmed that fact.. Anything to distract instead of offering confort to the country with dignity and respect.
On the other hand and regardless of the private conflicts that the Royal Family may have had with M& H, Andrew, etc,. I am sure that her Majesty doesn't appreciate the crass and mean comments of the president, they will just ignore his antics like the rest of the world.

I am sure they have not asked the USA to pay for their security. Trump just wants to divert the attention away from his bad handling of the COVID crisis. And otherwise: let's not speculate anything as we don't know the exact reasons and motives behind their decisions. Or, if you urgently need to make presumptions, let them be positive by default. Now more than ever we need positivity and compassion instead of negativity and malevolence.

Now he is saying that sacrificing 100,000-200,000 lives is a mark of his administration's good work. The same administration which received intel early on yet chose to call COVID-19 a partisan hoax instead of preparing.

He is uneducated , and uniformed, he just said that Seoul has 38 million people when trying to prove that we are much better than the Korean people, just embarrassing , he even accused the hospitals of stealing equipment, while doctors and nurses are sacrificing their lives, he is using these press conferences to do political campaigns. He is like an uncontrollable child, disrespecting any press member that asks poignant questions, unlike previous presidents who maintained a picture of dignity and grace under the most difficult inquiries.

Yes please, let's not quote the guy in the White House who knows nothing about anything. Harry and Meghan have said nothing about the secret service and for him to assume that they would and post about it is his usual, idiotic. Secret service is it's own entity. He's trying to make us look at something else other than Covid-19 and what's happening to our country that he's not taking care of. They're in LA so let's leave it at that. - Capt. Marvel

Maybe, the reason for this move is to be closer to better medical in help if one of them becomes ill, or perhaps their agreement with the owner of the house is over at the end of the month. It is appalling how many people write with certainty of their thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams with nothing to go on other than tabloid 'news'. No standing back to observe without judgement, enough to wish them well as everyone does with newlyweds, or people who make major life decisions. How dare they leave the golden cage to do something as vulgar as work when they have been given everything for free!
Now that they are out of range, the only club left to beat them with is the security issue and the so called astronomical cost that is never broken down in actual numbers. Everywhere they go the natives will chant security! security! let them pay for their security!. The HRH that would have probably ensured their protection under international agreements has been stripped, and Trump knows this, but no one is spared from his petty tweets. The US does not recognize titles so being a Duke has no importance.
Hollywood is not a series mansions close together full of celebrities living la vida loca. We may not like their lifestyle, but all of these people have to work hard for what they have. There are areas of dense population, gated communities where people pool their money to pay for protection, and estates with land around them for agriculture. Whichever one they choose will be with their own safety in mind as every family would do.
May the saints preserve all of us from a family that reacts so negatively when a member chooses to leave to create a new life, that complete strangers feel empowered to trash our characters on an international scale with whatever nonsense flows from their minds and fingertips. -Ana.

Invoices? Sources?.... and getting pregnant made the poor girl too sick to work at the front end, and maternity leave/confinement at the back end took care of at least 6 months out of the year. Add vacations and bank holidays and that put it to about 9 months of work shyness. In addition, she had 8 years to build a wardrobe of reusable pieces to defray her expenses. Meghan did all new engagements and two international trips even while heavily pregnant (Morocco). Some of the events required 2 or 3 wardrobe changes in the same day.

Demanding millions of pounds to their security team is insolence. They are millionaires, they can pay for their protection themselves like other more famous actors in Hollywood. The best charity will be when those millions of pounds from the taxpayers end up in health care, where thousands of self-sacrificing workers do life-saving actions, not just pathetic words.

Sorry for not remember the post ,but someone here wrote ,that calling this VIRUS the Chines Virus, xenophobic or and racist is beyond me, since it started in Wuhan and that is in China. So this leads to hate against the Chines people why?? Remember the Spanish flu, I don't think it made Spanish people scared to go out and be them self's. Oh yes how about the German Measles, they are still around,so this is a xenophobic and racist remark? all is show's where it started, so for so many years the German people and the Country was insulted by the use of the word. How about Chickenpox, it is a nasty word for every chicken wow I really did not know that. So people lets get back to the REAL LIFE.These are very trying times right now and let me say, if you hate someone it is so very easy to play the BLAME GAME.Take a chill pill and take a step back. Remember people are dying. If God call's you next, do you want to go with hate in your heart.!!! I would not. As for the " Chinese virus" it was Mr. trump that started to call it that, in order to cause controversy, and he got his results, Asian Americans are now being attacked on daily basis and even children are being beaten by other kids. Fortunately somebody put some sense into his head and he has finally stopped this divisive diatribe. Words have consequences, specially when ignorant and prejudiced people take this words as a Gospel.

  46. Now they are not Royal any more from tonight hopefully we won’t have to hear any more about them. I am absolutely horrified at the way they have behaved and have let the Queen down so badly. I’m afraid Meghan thought being Royal was being an Uber celebrity and then realized it’s about selfless hard work without drawing attention to yourself. The publicity a royal visit brigs is not for the member of the family but for the cause they are there to showcase. I don’t think she realizes that at all. Anyway, more hypocrisy on their part taking a private flight to the US from Canada, but for now we shouldn’t publicize anything they do on a Royal forum please. I’m really sorry I had to write all this but I just feel totally let down by the way they have behaved.

@ Julia, really? Do you identify with public people that you have only seen in pictures? Do you allow yourself to be upset by decisions made by total strangers that don't affect your life? Do you feel that you have any right to judge them, to speculate about their thoughts? You want them to be Royals and continue and have the life YOU think they should have, but the reality is that you know nothing about them, or the rest of the family, and furthermore your opinions are just thought put in your head by the tabloids.

I am not a British, nor an American, nor any English-speaking country, nor the Commonwealth. I am from Central Europe (Slovak Republic - a member state of the European Union, former part of Czechoslovakia) and my attitude towards the royal family (or to Trump) is indifferent. I am interested in the royal family and the situation in Britain mainly because I participate as a teacher in The Duke of Edinburgh International Award (DofE). I had the privilege of meeting Prince Edward of Wessex, who is involved in the program (taken over after his father) and I appreciate his modest and professional approach without he seeking cheap publicity.
I assure you that outside the English speaking states no one is interested in Meghan and Harry. In short, they are neither important nor inspiring for much of the world. And - as I know from my British friends, not even for them. We know a lot more prominent politicians, athletes, artists, world-famous actors (which - with all due respect - Meghan has never been).
Allow me view of the outside: Politicians have certain benefits (security) that they gain in connection with their work for the state and are elected for a limited period of time, so it's O.K.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decide to leave their royal duties. They have the right to lead the life of their choice, to live where they want, but they have to finance their luxury life and their security by their own. They do not have the right to demand millions of pounds from a british taxpayer (I am not one) . I think charity should be done without profit, not by other people's money, not for popularity.
And various environmental and other activists should show personal examples in modesty. It's my opinion. Sorry for my english.

@ 10:20, I understand that you aren't interested in this couple, although you still bother to write about them, the reason people continue to have an opinion in the matter, is because every now and again the press finds a subject that somehow sells. They first sold a love story between a Royal and a commoner, and when it wasn't enough they started the rumors, dramas, and eventually the attacks. Throwing red meat to a part of the population that craves gossip and judgement. They did it to Diana, Jackie O, and even Sarah Ferguson to a lesser degree, let's not forget Catherine, but in her case the Crown took a different stand a sued different publications.
Just would like to mention that Harry hasn't asked the British people for anything, you are misinformed, they aren't receiving a penny from public funds, and according to Buckingham they are even repaying the remodeling of their house, whether this is true or not, we don't know, but I am assuming that whatever agreement they reached has been closely supervised by lawyers and I can't imagine that the Queen will allow any falsehoods to be published under her name.
That being said, your comments are a perfect example od people accusing them of actions that aren't true. It's OK to not like them, or have an opinion in the whole affair, but seems that your base your negative criticism in just the ill intentioned campaign against this couple.

Who pays their protection then? Prince of Walles And his income?
Compare this couple to any other royal couple - from Swedish, Danish, Belgian ... and other royal families. Or His older brother and wife Kate. What a difference! -
Their ecological moralization is hypocritical. Where a millionaire takes the right to instruct people how to live while flying private planes to luxury resorts, his wife spends thousands of pounds on clothes from expensive designers. Of course, many celebrities live like this, but they at least do not moralize and instruct others.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous3/4/20 18:28

What is the point of the comparison? They are a marriage like any other, except that they prefer to leave the royal bubble. If Harry's father helps him and pays Meghan's clothing bills that is their business. Whether it is 500 or 5 million, many of us accept help from our parents to start a new life... (It may not be fair to include this, but someone else in that family who had no significant employment to speak of, lived in an expensive part of town and seemed to have funds for a corresponding lifestyle for 10 years!... parents paying the bills??)
Now that the issue of security is resolved, we return to ecology. There are thousands of commercial aircraft in the air at any given moment (pollution), but not all of them serve points that people need to travel to. Private jets are not their regular practice, but it sounds nice to exaggerate. Trying to get others to be mindful of their carbon footprint is not limited to the use of private jets. Plastics and deforestation are of major importance. It is unlikely that the days of sailing ships, or travelling coaches pulled by horses will return as a means of eco-travel. Lighten up! - Ana.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous4/4/20 08:06

No, the issue of security is not resolved. It has still not been clearly said who pays for their security, what money and how much it costs. You don't know for sure either. The statement by Harry and Meghan in January after the "megsite" made it clear that they were relying on the state, British special agents, arguing that Harry ... was born in a royal family ... and so on.
Living ecologically means living modestly, not luxuries. They, as multimillionaires, cannot be the spokespersons of ecological tourism, housing, fashion.
I was ripped from laughter when I saw Harry at the "Travalyst" event (one train wagon was reserved for him and his entourage).
Yes, they escaped from the "royal bubble" and entered the "celebrity bubble" from where they from time to time climb out in front of photographers to appear at some charity event paid by other people. It is not charity. Lighten up!

In the response to Trump they said that private arrangements were made...seems that some need the minute details.
Living ecologically has nothing to do with luxury. One can be conscious of the world around them at any economic level. Prince Charles is a great example...and he has not given up on luxury.
Before March 31,his security was controlled by the RPOs. It is unlikely that royals tell professionals what to do.
No matter which bubble they live in, life is short and no one deserves to be vilified because they choose not to live your dream. If royalty is your thing there are many more of them left in the bubble to adore. A

"They said that private arrangements were made ..."
       - it is such a vague expression that anything can be imagined under these words. And no, I don't need minute details. British taxpayers need (- I'm not British) to know it's not out of their money. My British friends, who are now experiencing difficult times due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Living ecologically has much (!) to do with luxury. Yes, Prince Charles has not given up on luxury, but he works for the monarchy, for the United Kingdom, for Cornwall.
I also think they have the right to live life as they want. Really. Just, for God's sake, they shouldn't make themselves ecological warriors and moralize people (about ekological travelling and fashion).
I have to laugh at the words "they choose not to live your dream". My dream? They are indifferent to me. In my country, people don't even know who they are. (I got to them randomly, while working at the DofE Award, before meeting Prince Edward, I studied at the pages of the British Royal Family and talked to British friends about it.) I think their behavior is far from the dignity my British friends expect from the British representatives.
And the biggest fun is that they hired a PR agency to improve their media image. Dear Sussex´s, you can enhance the media image with a long-standing patient work. Ask Camilla or Sophie Wessex how to do.
