  1. Not bad, looks elegant and polished. I think this kind of dress is ideal for a wedding or christening, it´s maybe not the ideal style for a state visit, especially since the day´s focus was on business relations and science. The hat matches his suit, if that´s of any use.

    1. Agreed. I thought she looked so much better in these pics, but out of place. Especially seeing the pics of him with his jacket off, he looks almost relaxed and she looks quite the opposite.

Another hat would have been better.

Again not good..... this dress makes her look very wide on the waist and hips.... the horrible shiny pantyhose, the different colours of the shoes, the clutch, the gloves,...... For a woman with endless means for dressing, I do not get it. Besides that, she always seems to be very uncomfortable in her shoes.... heels too high? Shoes always seem to be too small and her feet seem to be put in with force.... very unelegant.

Yes, Lily, you’re right: she never seems to be able to walk easy in those shoes.

    3. The pantyhose are not shiny. They photograph that way.

How can you tell from a picture that she can't walk well in her shoes?

  4. This is actually quite nice, although I would have liked to skip the belt and the necklace, which is a bit too much. I would also have preferred accessoars in a dark grey tone instead.

    1. Oh yeah, you are so right. Accessories in a dark grey would have been beautiful!!

Well, she has obviously chosen not to buy something new for this visit. This is an old one and it shows.
A bit oldfashioned and granny-like. Makeup, hair and hat are beautifully done, the still beautifull dress is not flattering for her figure and makes her too big a volume in a country where people are not so tall.

I like it! Yes, it has an old-school vibe and it’s a repeat, which make this ensemble more appealing. The hat is one of my favourites. Maxima wears these large scale hats so well. Well done! Chrissy

  7. The hat again. Wouldn't it be more practical to carry an ombrelle if she is being botherd by the glare and sun? Or is it to make her stand out in a crowd? And as another blog contributor said "she has to give NATAM a break".

I think she looks lovely. I like Maxima in this dress the first time she wore it and I like her in it now. I like her her hat and jewellery, as well as the thin belt, which does it's job without drawing attention. The colours are cool and soothing, and even the King's light coloured suit blends in well for them as a couple. Maxima looks smart and relaxed. Very nice.

For as warm as it was (she carried hand fan and in other photos was fanning herself), the long sleeves, gloves, and heavy looking hat were a bit much, as was the heavy looking pearl jewelry. This was a day outting, not something fancy. She could have worn so many other appropriate outfits, one wonders, why? .... JT

  10. As usual the overall effect is too much of everything, the dress could be improved with balancing the volume of the skirt, making it more an A silhouette, the necklace is not needed as it just adds to the cluttered effect, and once again these type of dresses look more cocktail than morning event. I like the hat, and wish that she had chosen shoes on the same tone. About the king.. I know that lots of you may favor this bearded look, but I think that he just can't carry it, in my opinion he looks unkept, nothing like King Felipe, always so well groomed, the wrinkled clothing doesn't help either, and yes I know is hot and humid.....

  11. To me it is globally ok, it fits her well, nice colours...

  12. Beautiful hat and dress and fits her beautifully. I love when her hair is up. She looks so elegant. And those pearls!! To die for...

The jewelry is stunning but I find the dress a bit blah. The soft neutrals don’t really stand out, especially seen against the vibrant clothing of her hosts. The A-line skirt isn’t particularly flattering either for those of us with hips. I do like the hat though...Q. Max wears this oversized shape very well. (V.M.)

Another nice dress for the hot climate, and the hat is stylish and also much more practical than carrying a parasol would be. She is a tall lady, that's why cutting the figure with a belt works fine for her.

  22. This outfit looks better when the Queen is in motion. Beautiful colours. The pearl necklace and pearl drop earrings are superb, and the perfect choice. Love the choice of shoe colour and clutch.

  23. I think this is another nice outfit-summery and appropriate. I agree that a less flared skirt might be more flattering and certainly grey shoes would be better but otherwise it all looks good

This is quite a pretty dress. The fabric and pattern are great! I would not break it up with a skinny dark belt, that just takes away from the dress. Will never be a fan of the huge flying saucer type hats. A chic, wide headband would have been so much nicer.
