For a moment I thought of Princess Diana, had the marriage not broken up, what shine would she show by his side at this appointment? -Dorothe-

Her hair surely would shine as much as Camilla's does these days, but I wonder if her contribution to the small talk would also be so brillant.

You are not the only one who has this thought Dorothe.

  3. This is an absolutely beautiful coat! I love it -- the design, the colors, the detailing. But I think I would love it much more on a teenager -- Lady Louise, for example -- or even a little girl. There is a very young vibe to this lovely garment.

  6. Camilla looks lovely and engaged and happy! I particular like the photo with the Westie, just gorgeous. I met her and the Prince of Wales at the Melbourne Cup one year and they were truly delightful and very engaging. Good to see them going so strong. ~ Cindy

  7. Jolies couleurs mais je ne suis pas fan du style de ce manteau ; je la préfère quand elle est en tailleur-jupe !

Very dignified (as always) and a nice departure from the ubiquitous forest green or navy coats. Contrast between pink and black is a little stark, but I think it’s still very classy. Since Diana’s name came up in one of the comments already, I confess to coming a long way from the days when I couldn’t look at pictures of Camilla without instantly thinking of her. But in hindsight, I admit I was biased. Not all Diana’s struggles had to do with Camilla. And arguably, had Charles been allowed to follow his heart upfront (since it’s Valentine’s Day), all the tragedy hadn’t happened. All to say that in my opinion it’s time to fairly recognize Camilla on her own merits, including how much she makes Charles happy, and admire her poise and quiet strength. In light of all the recent events related to challenges with becoming part of BRF, Camilla has a proven ability to stay grounded. Perhaps we should honour that.

    1. I have found myself becoming very impressed by Camilla’s lack of pretension. While always well-groomed, she doesn’t seem to be preoccupied with a desire to look younger than her years, or to be glamorous. This is a quality that, as I understand it, tends to occur in people who have been blessed with a very stable, secure childhood in a loving home. If that is the case, I think it may explain a great deal.

Nothing but respect for her, for the way she won the hearts of the British without seeking attention.

    3. I have read very many qualified biographies about Prince Charles, Princess Diana etc. and after much reflection have come to the sad conclusion that Diana had no chance because Camilla quite simply never released Charles, which is a psychological tragedy. I appreciate Camilla’s present unpretentiousness, her lack of vanity, but her former position required moral responsibility, and she was obviously unwilling to surrender her power over Charles. I feel deeply sorry for Princess Diana and have no desire to honour Camilla.

Given how (arguably) Camilla was the first one, and the one Charles loved, it’s hard not to see the almost irony of it. Life in the end proved they were meant to be together. Either way, looking at this particular engagement, this coat fits well, it’s well tailored and doesn’t seek attention. CH

  9. What a beautiful coat on the Duchess. I love the contrast details. She looks marvelous. Glad she didn't load it up with accessories and let the coat speak for itself.

  10. This coat is quite different from Camilla’s usual darker choices butI think it’s great and the lighter colour really suits her. Given the red piping, perhaps a red yoke (or black piping?) might have made it look less busy but still think it’s a winner. Looks especially good in the photo with the Beefeaters

On the occasion of Prince Charles and Camilla's visit to the Cabinet Office in London, May prosperity of the Kingdom, Royal Family and the people of Britain continue to reign.

  13. Camilla looks nice, but she always wear the same type of dresses woth the same cut. It suits here but gets a bit boring in the end. I guess she gets them sown up.
