The day dress is nice but the capelet somehow don't look right. The evening gown looks lovely. Mathilde is a beautiful lady. Hope they get everything done on this visit to NY. It seems they are enjoying them self's.

The checked combination is quite horrible, only the looking glass is missing, Sherlock revisited.... Who dreams up something like that?
The DvN dress, on the other hand, is quite elegant.
I find it strange that Mathilde, a nice looking woman, always gives me the impression that she could look so much more beautiful if only.....

    1. Agree. Maybe she needs a change of stylist, or more confidence in herself, or something

The day outfit looked too big, frumpy, and made her look older than her years. The evening gown looked lovely.... JT

  5. Mathilde must take her hairdresser to the trip.
I don t like the gey outfit, to old, and that cape is for a very cold day, no not for me

    1. The cape on the day dress, I don't understand. To me it looks like a last minute panic, repair job to hide something before she went on stage. The evening dress is bold but elegant.

  6. I don't dislike Queen Mathilde's checked dress with matching cape, but I don't love it either. Without the cape (or is it a huge collar?) it might be perfect but, as is, I think it misses the mark. Her dress with bright floral print on black is also a miss for me. However, I love the photos of the king and queen holding hands and the next to last photo of them looking into the others eyes...very romantic.

Dress of Dries van Noten, gorgeous
The black and white checkered dress would be a nice business dress, without this strange cape.

  8. Like the unusual and elegant evening dress, which looks particularly smart in the picture of the King and Queen together. The checked dress for daytime seems perfectly okay but the weird cape thing looks to me as if someone has stuck a bag over Mathilde's shoulders. It may be edgy but does nothing for me.

Wow , the queen looks superb in both outfits. Hair and makeup are also pretty.

  11. I don't mind the day dress at all. The evening gown is sensational, the Queen looks beautiful. I must say I do really like the red off the shoulder gown one of the young ladies is wearing 2 and 3rd last pictures, she looks lovely, very elegant.

Not the best tailored cape. I like the idea, not so much the execution. The gown and matching toile are spectacular and fit her well. Lovely photo with Mathilde and Philippe looking at each other. Don’t know them but I get this feeling of warmth, kindness and effortless class. CH

    1. I vaguely remember Philippe saying early in his marriage how beautiful his wife was. And when they had been married 10 years, Mathilde saying: "Philippe, je suis prete pour un autre dix ans".

  14. I think Mathilde looks beautiful in that full length dress. So tall and statuesque, fits beautifully. Now, along with other sentiments here, I don't love or hate the checked dress with cape. I do think the neckline looks a little off, but otherwise the dress looks like it fits very well. Perhaps without the cape, or a different neckline, it would have been a home run.

  15. Such a gorgeous dress! Queen Mathilde is very elegant ; that said, I think the Gucci wool/cotton ensemble is not the case.
