  1. Queen Letizia's blue velvet gown is very nice, and her earrings are gorgeous. Her makeup is perfect, as always, as is her posture. I think her hairstyle would have been better with the tendrils pulled back rather than hanging loose. The lady with the multicolored turban-like hat looks very nice, as do the Asian (Korean, maybe?) couple in their traditional blue attire. King Felipe looks particularly handsome in his formal attire.

  4. Very well tailored, fits her like a glove. I cannot help but think that this kind of column silhouette is not ideal for her. She looks so thin and so stiff, and a narrow dress like that must be difficult to walk in. She manages fine, but I think a bit more volume in the skirt had looked less restricting.

I like the Korean couple´s hanboks.

    Felipe is insanely good-looking.

It was in the morning, because of that it does not have volume.

The protocol in Spain for this diplomatic or military events is a long dress (even in the morning)

  5. The gown’s color and fabric are gorgeous (I wish the length didn’t make me think of Morticia Addams, though). Queen Letizia looks beautiful.

Love the gown, but I don't like the hair hanging down that way. As I've said over and over, it's the fashion, but that doesn't make it attractive. I notice lots of the TV anchor women are wearing it that way. Apart from the unkempt look, it draws too much attention and takes away from the overall hair style. And those strands of hair draw the eye away from the earrings and any embellishments around the neck area.

  10. I have never been a fan of this dress, I understand that daytime long dresses are difficult to manage, they can't be too festive, but this one gives me a vibe of an old fashioned Royal governess. Also this column dresses aren't the best choice for her figure, I am glad that the updo is not too severe, otherwise it would've been too much. Not terrible, but not her best look look

"Old fashioned royal governess" is much better than what I associated: an (elegant) bathrobe. :-)) (Ann.)

She has many like that for these events, it is the protocol,(military and/diplomatic) she can't do too much. The conservative people is thrilled, this is the way they like her.

The dress is a beautiful color of blue and the style is perfect for Letizia. Her hair hanging down ruins the total look. It is a shame because the bun in back is styled nicely. Just wish she had pulled it all back.

I disagree. The loose hairs gives the outfit more soft appearance, very appropriate look for this occasion. And even Letizia is very thin, she looks good in this kind of tight dresses because she still have round hips and pump. -Siri

  15. I like it as a whole, only the length is a bit too much

  16. The gown is lovely, color and style. Being constrained to a long dress, this works wonderfully for a day event. I like the simplicity of it, let's the beautiful velvet shine, and fits her like a glove. As for her hair, I think it was smart to have the tendrils. Kept it more of a daytime look. It isn't messy at all. I like the earrings. Overall, fantastic formal daytime presentation. And the King looks very handsome.

I understand that the collar is intended to help with the "day time formal" situation, but I can`t help thinking this (Peter Pan?) collar is the problem, not the tendrils. Imagine the same hairdo and earrings with a neckline just a tad deeper, no collar…?

This dress was originally made for an outdoor event in the winter (Pascua Militar)so there was the need to cover her from neck to heels. It is true that there too many details. -a brooch instead of buttons, but it falls within the limits of court dress for the occasion. As for the Spanish press the writers are proving to be untrained and increasingly out of touch with basic contemporary fashion. The queen's outfits are generally copied, a horror, a scandal ..the same few adjectives. Poor writing skills aimed at a certain audience.
The hair looks like the ladies in Victorian era paintings. It softens her face.
