I would have liked this fur coat with a daytime outfit, but not over an evening gown. Still, I really am not complaining this time. At least the Queen didn't wear that other awful gray/black fur thing. Everyone looks elegant and poised. I love the orders and jewelry over velvet.

    2. Joan , expensive, rare fur coats capes, stoles have been in general used for evening festive occasions for centuries. It's the shearlings and others of that versatility that are for day wear. And I think they all should be re-worn as long as they hold together. :-)

    3. Joann - Thank you,Liza, for the information. I'm afraid I'm not that knowledgeable about furs.

It's not a rule. Margarethe has been using the same ones in last two of the three for a very long time. Daisy does Daisy. Mary has been recycling lately. But she has more of an repertoire. She does recycle and reuse in general more than many of the royals. For example the red gown she used in the first one this year has had at least three iterations and is over a decade old.

  5. I think that, if she has those fabulous coats, she should wear them. I don't see why she shouldn't. I adore fur coats!!!

I'm with you Maria! I'm a carnivore and not ashamed of it. My personal opinion but, I've felt it a bit hypercritical of those who eat meat and wear and use leather goods etc, criticizing those who wear fur. As if a cow's life is less important than a fox of mink. Really? Have your believes, we are all entitled to them - and as an American I gladly fight for your right to have them even if I disagree - *but* don't be a hypocrite! Just saying.

    2. Joann - I love fur coats, but fake fur. I can't get the image out of my head of how they beat seals over the head to kill them. Can't they kill the animals in a humane way.? I feel the same about beef, pork, chickens, etc. But at least they are being used for food. By the way, when I said I didn't like the gray/black fur the Queen was wearing the other day it was not because I thought she shouldn't be wearing fur. It was because I just don't like that particular fur. I wasn't saying I'm against people wearing fur. I once had a faux, black mink fur which I wore all the time. But if people can afford it and they want to wear real fur, then that's their business.

I agree fur coats are beautiful and luxurious to wear as long as it is a coat that you already own or bought second hand. A full length coat made of chinchilla fur takes 150 to 200 pelts to make and I will spare you of the graphic details to kill them!!! There are to many beautiful fakes out there to continue killing these innocent animals...

Dear Maria Edite, I agree with you. I am sure that this fur coat and all the others are very old. This one has even been lengthened. Just look at the bottom part. Perhaps her mother wore it before her. Fake fur, by the way, is micro plastic. I know a stylish lady who wears the camel coat of her father who left this Earth thirty years ago and she looks great, she even gets compliments. Mass consumption is no virtue, quite the opposite.

  10. At this time of year I am sure it is cold in Denmark. As an older woman, I tend to stay cold all winter. I can see where Queen Margrethe's furs, especially this long one, would shield her from the chill. Perhaps, she believes that comfort is more important than the latest fashion trends.

I read somewhere that they repeat outfits so that the guests don't feel the pressure to invest in a new dress every year
