The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited an Army Canine Centre

On the last day of their visit to Pakistan, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited an Army Canine Centre in Islamabad where dogs are trained to detect explosive devices. British troops are currently giving training and advice to Pakistan's CIED programme, which in part breeds and trains bomb sniffer dogs. After Army Canine Centre visit, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge departed Islamabad during day five of their royal tour of Pakistan.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had to spend the night in Lahore after their plane RAF Voyager got caught in an electrical storm. The Duke and Duchess flew back to Islamabad on Friday morning instead and visited the Army Canine Centre before their departure back to London.

  1. One never goes wrong with back and white. All of her outfits for this tour have been great. Dss Kate wore them proudly.

  2. Duchess Catherine never made a misstep during this tour. She was always respectful of the customs of her hosts and dressed accordingly. Her last two ensembles, in black and white, are a bit stark when comparing them to her earlier more colorful outfits, but she looks fabulous in both. I particularly like her strappy flats when visiting the Army Canine Centre, and I love the last white outfit with black trim. It looks light and airy.

    2. Totally agree, not a fashion or cultural misstep for the entire trip. While every outfit was appropriate and pretty, I think the teal ombre that she arrived in was just the best for me.

    4. I have one quibble. Why oh why the beige court pumps with that very pretty black and white leaving tunic outfit. Please if you are going to steal another cultures ideas please steal them all. Those exquisite black flat shoes she wore or some pretty Indian sandels would have looked so much better. She still looks elegant but it just does not look right. I have a theory why she nearly always wears high heels or wedges even with jeans. If you look at her body shape she is quite long bodied with relatively short legs (that they look long is a visual trick) The waistline of quite a lot of her clothes is a few centimetres above her natural waistline and she nearly always wears heels and very often nude coloured ones. I think someone somwhere has convinced her that nude shoes and high heels will visually elongate your legs and it has stuck. Every time I see her in a bespoke Alexander McQueen dress the waist is in the right place and she looks marvelous.

  3. The first outfit is a knockout. Wonderfully sleek and smart. The second is easy, breezy and pretty.

  4. Les couleurs noir et blanc sont bien portées par Kate ; j'aime beaucoup la dernière tenue qui me semble très légère et fraîche !!!

  5. Kate has just given a master class on how to dress for a state visit. She didn't have a bad day. Each outfit was respectful of the traditions of her host country, yet she was able to inject her personal style into each.

She wears black and white so well, and took advantage of this for her last two outfits. I love her Beulah London coat teamed with the white tunic. This outfit is the perfect example of blending eastern and western styles. There have been many references made to Kate paying homage to Diana with her wardrobe choices. This must mean so much to William. Not wanting to leave William out, his attire has been equally fabulous. Together, this couple dresses in a way that shows they are warm and approachable. I think it is clear how well they communicated this by the welcome they received everywhere they went. It appears to have been a wonderfully successful tour and it was a treat to watch.

  7. This white outfit is looking very beautiful on her. One of her best daytime-outfits she ever wore imho.

  8. I LOVE both of these outfits. So utterly gorgeous, so effortless, and so practical. This hits all the right tones and blends in perfectly in the cultural setting without looking the least bit costume-y. Both outfits would work in a western context too, just drape the shawl differently and you´re good to go.
The second outfit apparently was a spare outfit that she ended up needing. I wonder how many outfits they bring on tours like that.

  9. Oh - I think these two outfits are absolute perfection. What a stunning end to the tour. DMP

  10. This combination of black coat and white trousers is superb. And shoes - she is wonderful in those shoes, its pitty that she prefers stiletos for almost every occasion. All in all: great outfits on tour!

  11. I'm sorry Debra but even if duchess Catherine outfits were beautiful and they fit her it was ridiculous !!! I do agree about the visit at the mosque but nobody asked her to dress like that during 5 days ! Princess Diana 25 years ago respected a certain dress code but but she stayed a British princess so I hope they stop compare Diana with Catherine and we Europeans have our own values too ! The difference between William dresses like a modern prince and his wife played it oriental Muslim princess is too much for me ! Sorry but that's my opinion.

    1. OMG...your post is offensive.

    2. I can'tsee any offence in Trudy's comment. She expressen her view, that I share, with the utmost respect.

    3. Agree! Very offensive and so untrue. It's the only remark of its kind I've seen on this site. Makes me wonder what the thinking is here. I understand there are differences of opinion, but geeze, this is beyond that!

    4. Trudy, you made 3 different comments about how gorgeous Maxima looked in her sari. One of your comments even references Kate "Five days playing the Muslim game..." I fail to see the difference between Maxima dressing in traditional Indian clothes and Kate dressing in traditional Pakistani clothes. Your Muslim comments can only mean that you have a deep, dark prejudice.

    5. If you cannot see how offensive your comment is, you should visit Britain both within and beyond the tourist areas. You will find countless very British women, of all shapes, sizes and colours, wearing exactly what Catherine is wearing. She is totally representing modern Britain, without being divisive as your comment is.
There is nothing wrong at all if she chose to dress exactly as she did, AND to look utterly fabulous and appropriate at the same time, for 5 days straight.

    6. I did not want to be "offensive" and it was only my point of view. we live in a democracy. And I compare how it was 25 years ago and royal families visiting the middle east or Pakistan respecting the values in that part of the world. Since than many things have changed and we are losing our own identity and values. Fanatic religions try to change our society all over Europe !

    7. I always like to read different opinions, so why should Trudy not say what she thinks? But at the same time I have to admit I don't understand, Trudy, why you say that "we Europeans have our own values". Of course we have! Do you think when Catherine dresses more Pakistan-y on a formal visit in Pakistan, that she denies european values then? I don't think she does. She dresses respectful to her hosts. And she looked beautiful every day.

    8. I understand your comment Trudy, and I don´t find it offensive either. Kate did dress very oriental during this trip, and she didn´t have to. There are ways to respect local customs and still look like your normal self. I happen to love oriental-inspired clothing and would wear caftan-like tunics for example even in my western context without hesitation (hence my above comment) but I can understand that you and others feel that she ventured very far from her usual conservative style. The difference is indeed striking and obvious for everyone to see, and there is a fine line between diplomatic dressing and cultural appropriation. I think she stayed on the right side of that line with the above featured outfits, but I can understand you if you feel that she crossed it, and in fact I even agree regarding some of the other outfits she´s worn during this trip including the very first outfit in which arrived.

Generally, I wish people would tolerate disagreeing opinions better and wouldn´t automatically call everything offensive that is the least bit controversial. There is a difference between being critical and being offensive, and I´m worried about the politically correct climate everywhere which increasingly stigmatizes all sorts of criticism. I fail to see how Trudy´s comment is offensive in any way. Instead, I´ll thank you Trudy for being honest and contributing to the discussion!

    9. "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." (Albert Camus) IMHO is what Duchess Catherine wore in Parkistan is not in a way a rebellion or a respectful gesture to the host, yes it is just to much. The thing here could be that she is not aware about intersubjective reasons for values of a secular society. Sorry about my English.

    11. Trudy, I agree with you. Catherine did not have to wear Pakistani for five days.
The Queen visited Pakistan in 1961 and again in 1971 and she wore her western clothes the entire time, and it was okay too. Nobody ever said she disrespected the host country.

    12. What a great blog is this! One post starts with a beautiful royal lady wearing beautiful clothes - and suddenly it is about european values and Albert Camus and rebellion and some "intersubjective reasons" and whatever...

  12. Love the black jacket with the white trousers and dress. The white and black outfit is okay but it’s my least favourite of the trip apart from the casual skirt waistcoat combo.
To those who feel that wearing the dress of the country all the time is too much, I understand the point but when she looks this good I, for one, would not complain. I think it was the Duchess of Cornwall who first wore tunic/ trousers as her main choice for visiting Muslim nations ( Diana wore a mix as Catherine has done previously). As a Scot, the fact that many of the royal family turn up clad in tartan at so many Scottish events is mildly strange when most Scots don’t own anything tartan. However, I don’t think it’s offensive in any way.
This whole tour has been a joy, both in the outfits worn and watching the enjoyment of this lovely couple as they undertake their public engagements. So sad it’s over.

  13. One can never go wrong with black and white,it is always in style and dressy. She looked wonderful in the outfits. The only thing is I think William was a bit too casual. Great interaction with the people and the children. I think they both know Imran Khan, nice meeting with him.

  14. I totally agree! Kate always acts a lot more traditionally than it would be expected of her!! In my opinion she is a very weak personality!

    1. Judging her clothes is one thing but attacking her personality and character is another. How do you know she has a weak personality you barely even know her peronally. At the end of the day you're just another arrogant troll hiding behind a screen. Sure your entitled to your opinion but it doesn't make it relevant yikes😬😐

The black jacket is beautifully cut, falls perfectly and works well. The buttons and satin finish take this coat to a whole new level. It was never going to be just another black coat. The shoes were a perfect choice. The Duchess's outfit on boarding is lovely, soft and pretty. Perfect for her final day.
