Queen Maxima visited the MIND Young Academy in Amersfoort

On October 3, 2019, Queen Maxima visited the MIND Young Academy (Wij Zijn MIND) in Amersfoort. MIND is an organization committed to a psychologically healthy society and aims to understand and treat psychological problems. More than 40 percent of Dutch people are confronted with psychological problems in their lives, themselves or with a neighbor. MIND wants to prevent psychological problems, to support people who are confronted with them and to ensure more openness and understanding. (Queen Maxima's outfit is by Belgian fashion house Natan.)

  4. Well, everything here is mostly very good indeed -- nothing is wrinkled, the colors and patterns work well together (which surprises me), the pants fit beautifully around the hips and are the right length. And I looove a full, flowy sleeve, and wide-leg trousers. But there is just a bit too much of everything here even for me. Reduce the volume of the sleeves and pant legs somewhat, and I'd adore this.

Totally agree with you Jane Chantal.

  5. Two pieces I would have never combined.
With the different patterns, the exaggerated wide leg and super-puffed sleeves, this is too much for me. Her hair looks lifeless compared to the super volume of her outfit (and compared to the last picture showing what it could be).

  6. Absolutely love the trousers. They are gorgeous. I want a pair! I like the blouse too but think a plainer style, more colourful top would have been better with these trousers. The photo with the two wee girls who have asked her to pose with them is so lovely.

Queen Maxima looks great. Love her hair style , make up and the Natan outfit is fine.

  8. No Natan. Just no.
With my best wishes and kindest regards, you're allowed to go back to your desert island and try to figure things out.

Well yes. A bit too much of the trousers and a bit too much of the sleeves. But exactly the right amount of ponytail!!! More of this hairstyle please for all everyday occasions.

Das Outfit ist eine Katastrophe. Aber umso süßer sind die beiden kleinen Mädchen: „kämpfen“ mit einem Plakat für ein Foto mit ihrer Königin..und, der Plan ging auf. Zuckersüß und bezaubernd.

  11. I would never have thought that the combination would work but I really think she looks just stunning. Maybe the blouse could have had slightly less full sleeves for absolute perfection. However well cut hair is just not one of our countries talents I amafraid.

If anyone, it's Maxima who can pull this off. :) She has a natural charisma and she really looks stunning here.

    1. Dear Anonymous, I completely agree with you. I know from my Dutch friends that Queen Maxima is extremely popular in Holland so that her sartorial whims and fancies are no problem. I love her carefree style, her fantastic smile, her nonchalance; no studied preoccupation with her outward appearance, s very special queen indeed.

I second that. This isn't "safe" fashion, but she can pull it off. Whilst the combination is a little "loud", the outfit works for Maxima (good fit as well). And she is so beloved, that really all people in the Netherlands care about is her genuine smile and positive attitude, not to mention how hard working she is.

  13. Agree with most, these 2 pieces should never be paired. those plants combined with a well fitted burgundy, cognac, chocolate or even light beige could be great. The top is definitely an acquired taste, but it would be more attractive with slim pants or pencil skirt. Inline the hair on a ponytail.

Oh I like this very much. I think the calm neutral colours tone down the exuberant blouse and the full trousers. Even her hair is flattering. Well done Queen Max! (V.M.)

This is a rare miss for me, don't like the combination. I do like the Queens hair pulled back. Those 2 delightful little girls in their Demin jackets are real fashion blazers, they look so cute. I love the little one with the scarf wrapped around her neck, watch this space!

I like it! Looks very great on Máxima and it fits her - and her personality - really well! Good job at not just getting to embrace the cause and raise awareness around mental health, but also at being so down to earth and putting people at ease. The Dutch royals have done an excellent job at connecting with everyone. The entire family is so beloved and the country appreciates the genuine involvement of WA and Maxima. The fact that they don’t just always ‘blend in’ in terms of the so-called expectations is in fact to be applauded in my opinion. They are who they are, don’t pretend to be perfect - and no one is asking them to be different at all. Quite an accomplishment for sure. Less energy spent by anyone debating (mostly to no positive outcome) and arguing about what they should or shouldn’t do. Certainly a sign of a mature society.
