The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Cyprus

Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Cyprus to meet with British troops during the festive period. The journey to Cyprus will take place after a Christmas party in London, hosted by the Royal couple. On December 4, Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will host a Christmas party in London which is supported by the Royal British Legion. The party will be held for families and children of troops from RAF Coningsby and RAF Marham serving in Cyprus.

On December 5, Wednesday, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit the RAF base in Akrotiri and meet with serving personnel, families living on the base, wider station personnel and members of the local community. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will also officially open the Oasis Centre at RAF Akrotiri. The Oasis Centre is a new hang-out area for the personnel when they aren't on shift.

In the announcement, Kensington Palace stated that the Royal couple want to ‘acknowledge and honour’ the fact that many military personnel are deployed overseas or away from home and may miss out on time with their families over the festive period
