  1. Why so covered up? Open the necklines, shorten the sleeves. It´s july in NY!
Beatrice´s shoes had been so much nicer without the second strap.
Still - nice, tame and elegant outfits. They look good, albeit a bit wintery, and neither outfit really says business.

  3. Wonder how they are qualified for this.

    1. Well, I think being a princess and part of the RF qualifies for nearly everything;-)))Couple years ago I read that Beatrice offers a coaching programm on 'How to develop a happy, healthy, wealthy lifestyle'😳 I think, it works like this: pay me 100.000 Pounds, I will declare you as my new BGF, invite you to some partys, open some doors for you, so you can meet the 'right' men and such you create a happy, healthy, wealthy life.....😉😅😅😅 It's that easy.......

    2. Presume someone organising invited them - it would be interesting to find a report to see what they were talking about, we might get an idea then.

    3. The topic was ending modern day slavery.
A subject neither Beatrice or Eugenie have no clue or experience in.
I just want to say, I'm sick of these totals becoming "experts" on subjects that they have no idea about.
Just because they're royalty doesn't give them some kind of knowledge that other people don't. It's an insult to more deserving people who have worked hard every day, to actually make a difference and should have been invited to speak.

    4. Well said, Blair.

    5. Perhaps they are there because their profiles can draw attention to the issue. With all due respect, whatever their failings I don't think either of them has claimed to be an expert. And they may have no experience but we don't know what they do or don't know.

I have no idea what the thinking was behind inviting them but I'm sure there there was something remotely sensible. They also weren't the only speakers.

It seems to me these princesses just can't win with some people.

    6. Franny, as usual you are correct. It's refreshing to read sensible comments, rather than snarky remarks.
I am unaware of their qualifications, but obviously people with high profiles are invited to promote visibility to the causes, I am sure they aren't taking anything away from the so called "more deserving people" . Like they say dammed if you do , dammed if you don't:-)

Happy to see the two princesses are working towards social-impact philanthropy. A great way to put their privileges to a good cause. They may have finally found their own way to contribute in a positive way to the royal family’s contribution and value beyond the UK and the Commonwealth.

As to their sartorial choices, not too bad, certainly when you compare to a certain bright-look-at-me fuschia dress a certain first lady wore at the UN. and not only that they don’t look ridiculous like her, they look more than appropriate for the event. Not particularly the best choices for their bodies, but they certainly have done much worse in the past.

Overall, they rose above my expectations, primarily for their choice of a pertinent way to contribute. But also for gaining some maturity in terms of appropriateness of their outfits.

  6. I think they both look lovely - long sleeved but am assuming there is air conditioning.

Looks fine for the event to me - I don't think business/philanthropy has to mean sober suits. (But then I can wear jeans to work...)

Neither of them are dressed well for the engagement they attended. Sad, but they really do need a stylist to help them. Bea's shoes are to clunky, her dress looks as if she is going to a funeral. Eugenie cannot strike the right cord either, long sleeves, on both of them in New York in the summer? A skirt/short sleeved jacket on both of them would have been more professional and worked. Sadly they didnt have any help in dressing.

Completely agree, it is sad that they have no professional help! In the past few weeks/months they do not look ridiculous as often before. They made progress, but there is a lot to improve. I do not look forward to the wedding of Eugenie, because I can imagine that her hairstyle will not be flattering.
      Hope that I am wrong.

I am also looking forward to Eugenie's wedding and seeing her mother and father together for this happy day!! Eugenie's and Beatrice's dresses are nice but would have been better with shorter sleeves. Love Beatrice's shoes!

I really like Pss Eugenie's 'dress the length is perfect, so are her shoes. Pss Beatrice dress is too black for a hot NYC day.I don't care for the shoes not the best choice. But then I am not wearing them. But the UN Bldg is cool, I don't think anyone is sweating in there.

  10. It might hot outside but it's freezing inside in some places because of air conditioning. I'm wearing long sleeves and frankly, if I could put a blanket over my bare legs sometime, I would! That being said, Beatrice and Eugenie both look lovely. I think Eugenie is letting her hair grow for her wedding.

  11. Beatrice looks horrid and funereal. This is a winter church service get-up and it is not flattering to her figure. And scraping her hair back is not a good look for her. Eugenie looks like she's going to a very chilly garden party in wallpaper. It is July in NYC. Chic,'sleeveless, simple dresses (with a jacket for meetings) are called for.

    1. That´s what I was thinking. Sleek sheath dress with blazer/jacket is what you wear for that kind of event if you want a serious, professional look.

  12. I commend both Beatrice and Eugenie for their participation with this organization. They are high profile and thus contribute to bringing much needed focus and attention to the work of this summit. In respect to Eugenie's dress -- it further confirms to me that Erdem is my LEAST favorite designer.

    1. With the letters ERDEM you can easily form the rather vulgar word that the French call "le mot de Cambronne".

  14. Folks, give them a break. Nobody dresses like Claire Underwood in House if cards. Look at Michelle Obama. She wore printed dresses and non-stiletto shoes most of the time. The princesses are not some fictional movie characters or fairytale people. They don’t strive to be the perfect model-but rather real humans. With good and bad. This event shows they care, they understand what is going on around them, not just in a world of privilege. And since they are not obsessed with their bodies, clothes won’t look like on models. But then they don’t sell the clothes, or some office business plan, they sell awareness and they do that in a dignified way and so much better dressed (and I assume those who say it’s hot in NY don’t in fact work or live here. Unless someone lives on the street, it’s rarely a temperature that is comfortable without sleeves).

Good cause, decent outfits and I hope to see them more often in similar circumstances.

  15. Chill out people. Maybe they have air conditioner in the venue, wow such an invention right..
