Crown Princess Victoria received 2018 Solliden Award

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden was officially named as Årets Ölänning (the Öland Inhabitant of the Year) with a ceremony held in Solliden. Victoria received a diploma and the Solliden Award, a glass bowl from Kosta Boda called "Globe" from her father. The Öland Inhabitant of the Year is an award given by a jury appointed by the newspaper Barometern and Sveriges Radio P4 Kalmar. The Solliden Award is given to a person who made a remarkable contribution or performance within a specialist field or who took actions or initiatives that promote the interests and development of the island or who made long-term efforts for the benefit of Öland. At the award ceremony, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were present.

Why do the Swedish women dress in traditional costumes, but the men do not?

Is this a story about the Japanese? It seems the women are prone to dressing in traditional costumes, while the men are not.

CP Victoria and the Q Silvia look very nice in the Traditional Costume, this one must be from the Oeland region. It is always special for the RF to wear them, it shows love of Tradition and the Swedish way. Would not mind having the globe, beautiful color. Both Ladies have a beautiful smile for their Countryman.

Victoria's eyebrows look too harsh and heavy-handed. Makes her look older and angry-looking.

How nice CP Victoria winning the 2018 Solliden Award. Best Wishes to her. It is also very rewarding to see Victoria and the Queen, to wear the National Costumes of the region, it always shows respect for the Swedish people and National pride. The Globe is very nice too.

  9. The king looks bored and detached, as if he wandered into the event by accident.

It must have been a great honor for Princess Victoria to be awarded the oland inhabitant for the year 2018 by her father, King Carl Gustaf of Sweden.

  11. The King would be a lot happier if he was giving an award to Prince Carl Philip. But I like the Swedish costumes the ladies are wearing.

Why do you say something like this about The King??

Seems uncalled for. The Swedish monarchy recognized the right of the first born to inherit the crown regardless of gender before any other one (and many years before the British one). It was in fact this particular king who did that. So such a comment is not fair nor factual (which lately seems to be just what so many people are doing).

    3. Anonymous, 10:20, as far as I know the king wanted Victoria to lose her title when her younger brother was born. It was the swedish parliament who decided that Victoria will be queen, even if she has a brother.

Odd comment. If The King had wanted Prince Carl Philip to have this award, he would have given it to him.
@Coralie: we have no way of knowing fpr sure that The King is unhappy about current situation and he would rather see his son as future monarch. For me it looks he's proud of all of his children.
We've heard lots of rumors and lies about the royal families the press has created and we shouldn't believe everything we read in the papers/mags. Don't forget that hey want sensation.
I really, really doubt The King wanted Victoria to lose her title! Its Crown Princess Victoria who gets everything. It must be difficult for Carl Philip and Madeleine to live in Victoria's shadows. But I think they have found their way and seem to be content with their lives, just as Victoria. Good for them.

"the king wanted Victoria to lose her title"...that isn't true.
If anyone lost any titles, then its Carl Philip who lost his title as His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Sweden, Duke of Värmland and is now His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, Duke of Värmland. The king could have made his son as the future King if he had wanted so. In Norway Haakon is the Crown Prince even though he has older sister.

  12. Actually when Victoria was born there were initiative of law that the first born is going to be king or queen on Sweden, but making the law went so far Carl Philip was born as heir to crown. The king wanted at first the ready born heir to be real heir. But that was ages ago. Silvia and the King have given several interviews where they say all of them have been over that thing decades.
