ردحذفNice name for the newborn prince. I'm not a fan of George because in my opinion, George is a name, which is quite tight. Louis is a strong but not a tight name.

Queen Elizabeth did exactly the same thing with her 2nd and 3rd sons. Prince Andrew's name is Andrew Albert Christian Edward. When Prince Edward was born, she named him Edward Anthony Richard Louis.

حذفYuk is a pretty ugly response to someone's choice of name. It is their choice - perhaps we would all have a YUK response the the names you choose for your children.
حذفAll I can say is I hope they come up with a good nickname to call him. Louis? Yuk I was hoping for either Phillip or David or Alexander. Maybe Louis is a popular name in Britain. I didn't like the name George either. My uncle's name was George and my Dad's name was Louis. But those names were popular back in the 1930's.

ردحذفI first heard the name when listening to the radio early this morning on the publicly funded CBC network here in Canada: the baby's name was announced as Prince "Lewis". I immediately knew what the name really is, but cringed at how it may be (and already was) mispronounced.
ردحذفI shouldn't be commenting on the choice of names (I wouldn't have dared with my grandkids) but I personally find Louis to be a nicer choice than George.

ردحذفLord Mountbatten had a sister named Louise who became Queen Louise of Sweden through her marriage to Gustaf VI Adolf (a much loved monarch).
حذفI like the name--my third son is Lewis, so I would say that---but I wish we had either Philip or Michael. Catherine is often criticised for the fact that the children spend more time with her side of the family, but the names are certainly from William's side (I know Charlotte and Carole could be seen as being linked) but I thought we might get Michael. The old tradition in Scotland was to name 1st son after father's father, 2nd son after mother's father, 1st daughter after mother's mother etc. With genealogy as a hobby, I was always going to stick to that tradition, using the grandfather's names as middle names. Eldest son has been told he may name his children anything he likes but his eldest son must have his grandfather's and great grandfathers etc name in the middle somewhere! There have been lot's of comments on Louis being used twice but Charles in male and female form has also been repeated.
