  1. Everyone seems to be properly dressed, maybe Maxima's hat stands out a bit too much, and is that a big bow around her neck? Frederik should have used a razor.

  2. We were in the streets and touring Bangkok. Soooo many people in black and coming to pay their many respects for their King.

  3. The European royals look a bit outside their comfort zone.
I'm hesitant to comment on how Frederik looks as I have been chastised before...

So do Felipe, Carl Felipe, Haakon, etc. They will only look more professional. I wonder what's with the black band Andrew's got around his arm. I know Edward is not there, but I will always wonder how he and Andrew are ALLOWED to wear uniform at public events

    1. The black band is a standard symbol of mourning. Andrew is not the only man wearing one. He and Edward (and Anne, although no-one ever gripes about that) wear uniforms .they have honorary positions in various military groups. They are Colonels in Chief of various regiments, for example. It's not a question of being allowed - it is an honour for them to represent their regiments

    2. These funerals are state funerals what means that royals have order sashes and medals. With orders men wear either uniforms or tailcoats. Funerals are not place of tailcoats so it is uniform in the first place. Those who have no uniform wear still tailcoats as seen. As a courtesy they try to wear white uniform coats. With those white jackets they all have black mourning ribbon at their left arm. It would have been very odd if Andrew had not his uniform here.

    3. Now I won't argue the uniform thing about Edward, but Royalty Fan, you do know that not only did Andrew serve in the Royal Navy, but fought during the Falkland Islands War, right?

    1. there are a few younger queens, for the ones who sent the heir, could be an issue of age maybe? Traveling would probably be a hardship for the Queen of Denmark for example. No idea about Spain, but with all that is going on there, who knows. I think it's common for the 'second' to attend, I know the vice president of the US is the one that goes to foreign funerals, not the president. Could also be a security thing.

  8. Thank you for posting these photos, I don't want to offend, so please tell me if this is inappropriate to ask, but is there an explanation of the ceremony anywhere?
