20th Anniversary of the death of Princess Diana of Wales

On 31 August 1997, Princess Diana of Wales, died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris, France. Princess Diana of Wales was a woman whose warmth, compassion and empathy for those she met earned her the description the "people's princess".

Twenty years may have passed since her death shocked the world but her appeal remains undiminished. On the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death, people are gathering outside Kensington Palace to remember the People's Princess.

  3. i can remember that Sunday morning waking up to hearing the sad news of her death. we sat the TV watching the entire day. what saddness. may God a bless her sons. RIP Diane, Princess of Wales, but more importantly princess of hearts. This is a fashion blog... how amazing it would have been to commentbon her style if she was still alive. my sister and i had the priveldge to travel from a Cape Town SA to view her dresses in Kensington palace....amazing experience

    1. Rochelle, I remember that day vividly, as well. Could not believe it. It was hard to look at photos of her for a long time. I saw her in NY once. She was so radiant. And tall!
      I think Diana would have transformed fashion and attitudes for women in her age group (she would be in her 50s now). I am sure she would have transformed other areas, as well.

  6. I remember that night, my front door was open on a beautiful summer night and I heard sirens nearby as the news came on TV, it all seemed so close, and so overwhelming. The emotions were so strong I never will forget that night everything changed.

  8. I will never forget this day, I had to young children with me, while I was working!! The pain and loss of my idol broke me. For days I just wanted to have comfort with my children.

  9. Diana was a beautiful person, inside and out. So loving and giving to those in need and a loving mother to her two beautiful boys.

    Just as her life was beginning anew, it was cut tragically short. How wonderful it would have been to see Diana fully blossom.

    She was one of a kind, yet in many ways her boys, now grown men are so very much like their mother. She would be so proud of "the boys".
