    2. I think just opposite, MM is very rear of our royal ladies to whom black is a good color.

But the zipper, that is terrible. As it is in other ladies clothes. Wish fashion designers get quicly over that.

  2. Is that a zipper on her back? Horrible. The dress/skirt looks cheap. And black is definitely not her colour. But I admire her because of her high heels on this kind of pavement.

    1. I didn't even bother saying anything about the zipper in my first comment. It defies description. As for high heels on pavement, you just have to be careful of where you step, in between the cracks!

  3. Well, MM has always worn black tights in the colder months. It may simply be that she feels the cold and tights are warmer than stockings--and certainly warmer than bare legs! This outfit is OK and appropriate. However, I am really over the prominent zipper display trend that designers seem to have adopted lately. My cynical self notes that less labor/cost is involved in finishing a zipper so that it is hidden and blends invisibly into the design.

  4. I´m not impressed by that exposed zipper, and I´m never a fan of all-black outfits (funerals only). But: Mette-Marit looks appropriate here, this is actually a flattering shape, and she looks much better than in her usual hippie style with baby doll waists, shapeless sacks and nightgown pattern.
One size up and with some contrasting detail that breaks that wall of black, and I would really like it.

    1. I totally agree with you. The exposed zipper is terrible though.

  5. She's in Norway, folks! I'm sure the tights feel good against the cold weather. I think her outfit is a nice improvement. However, I would probably have chosen a very simple ivory-colored coat of the same length as the dress for a contrast in color.

    1. She wore a reverse version of what you suggest - black coat over a white dress - on the visit to Canada, to good reviews.
      Btw, I like black tights.
