Christian IV’s Winter Room was created at Rosenborg Castle in 1613. The room was decorated with richly carved wooden panelling and paintings, some of which were purchased in Antwerp. Over the centuries, the ceiling, floor and architectural features have undergone various changes. Following three years of extensive restoration, the Winter Room’s historic details have now been preserved and brought back into prominence.
