On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako hosted a tea reception at the Rensui Pavilion of the Imperial Palace, inviting recipients of the Order of Culture and Persons of Cultural Merit, among others. Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, Princess Aiko, and Princess Kako also attended the reception.
While I think they all look wonderful, in particular Princess Kako in the blue dress/suit, I would have wished for Princess Kiko of Akishino to wear a more cheerful colour. But then - they are in pastels often enough. I noticed the absence of Prince Hisahito of Akishino for the last couple of engagements. As he is of age, and he did participate in some events already, I wonder where he has gone to so suddenly? Attending university? I know he is going for a grade in biology/entomology. That seems to keep him busy, I guess.
