On October 6, 2026, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde received around 70 of the country’s top athletes at Castle of Laeken. The athletes have distinguished themselves through exceptional performances over the past two years. Their coaches and managers were also in attendance.
The athletes included those who won medals at European or World Championships in an Olympic or Paralympic discipline, as well as Belgian athletes who achieved exceptional results at the international level. For the occasion, Queen Mathilde wore a dress by Natan.
Natan Bella Dress

One of Nathan’s better effort other than the outsized bow which looks like it would be in the way if you bent your head to talk to someone. Otherwise the colour and fit are wonderful yon Q. Mathilde. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThis is not a midi dress. Midi dresses come to the middle of the the 'lower leg', but not to the ankle/foot area. This is a knee length dress.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the dress and the premises are not the Laeken palace but the Castle of Laeken. The Royal Palace is in Brussels.
Delete22:47 palace and castle are commonly used as synonyms so no problem with this description. Regarding midi or not, while it’s true it would be a stretch to call it a midi, this is a private blog who we are lucky enough to visit, not a journalistic site, and picking out every little error won’t feel good or necessary to the author(s). It’s ok to let little details go and rather thank the author(s) for this long running and very entertaining blog.

DeleteIf you are walking in the Centre of Brussels and you ask the way to the palace they will send you to the Place Royale not far from the Central Railroad station. The Royal Palace is a bit farther than the Place Royale. If you wish to see the Castle of Laeken they will tell which tram you have to take to Laeken (a part of the city of Brussels which is not situated in the centre) and where you have to step down to see the Castle which is smaller than the Royal Palace. Lately King Philippe and Queen Mathilde receive often people in their home residence the Castle of Laeken if it are smaller groups of people. The Royal Palace is the administrative palace of Brussels and is used on state visits to welcome the royal, imperial or presidential guests. It is much bigger and is used to organize events with a lot of visitors. The administrative services of the Kingdom of Belgium are situated there, the office of King Philippe, the office of Queen Mathilde, the secretarial services of the Royal Palace, a division of the Federal Police and security services, etc.. When I go to London I am not going to ask the way to the Castle of Buckingham, because I know people will look at me and will immediately correct me by repeating "Oh you mean Buckingham Palace". So every little error can give the readers of this blog a false image of where and how the Belgian royals organize their activities. And what you can visiti as a tourist or not. Maybe you are not interested, but there are people who read this blog and asked what they have to do in case they visit Brussels to see the premises of the Royal family and what and when they can visit it. The other castles where the other members of the Royal family are living are also situated in the Parc of Laeken. Belvedère castle : the home of King Albert and Queen Paola. Stuivenberg castle the former home of Queen Fabiola. Schonenberg the villa of Princess Astrid and Prins Lorenz, the Green houses open to the public every year for a short period. The Japanese Tower and the Chinese pavillion (not open to the public, only during the visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan and only fot them, during their state visit this Spring),.......
Her hair looks lovely from the side with all the curls.
ReplyDeleteI love Queen Mathilde in this dress by Natan. She is wearing rather new earrings I think of which I couldn't find the description. I can see there is a part in the earrings which has the same color as her dress. QM is wearing one of her Dior handbags which she must like very much since she wears it very often.
ReplyDeleteYup a Natan, sew front to back of dress, no arm holes, drape of fabric. Huge embellishment this one has a nice fit and no too much fabric
ReplyDeleteThe color of Queen Mathilde's dress is excellent to wear during one of the last Summer days. It was 23° C this afternoon and the sky was blue. From next Thursday on another weather type is announced : 15° C and rain and a cold wind. The rain is needed like everywhere.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you that the dress is great in colour and fit. Not everywhere needs rain, though. The west of Scotland has has more than enough, thanks
DeleteThx AnnieM
DeleteYour country and maybe one or two more have enough rain, but they are the exceptions. All the other countries have not enough water reserves.
She is always so elegantly dressed.
ReplyDeleteThis dress on this occasion looks splendid. I like the style, design and fit. The color suits the Queen well. Love the color of her accessories, a nice neutral color. I particularly love her bag. She looks well groomed and elegant.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting that Natan has used a model with hips, like a normal woman, not a standard straight tall model which is still womanly of course but perhaps not the majority silhouette across the likely clients. I love this and it makes the dress a more likely fit for many more women.
ReplyDeleteJ'aime beaucoup la couleur de cette robe. Mais plus le temps passe et moins j'apprécie les chaussures nude. Je trouve cela trop "facile".
ReplyDeletePerfect dress in model and length. Mathilde always picks the right stuff from the Natan collection
ReplyDeleteJolie couleur lumineuse de cette robe qui à mon avis, serait mieux sans cette grosse fleur ; j’adore son petit sac à mains !
ReplyDeleteLove this Natan dress are words I rarely type but this one is just interesting enough and it fits beautifully. I do hope Maxima buys this one, in a different color of course.
