On October 6, 2026, King Frederik and Queen Mary, together with Princess Benedikte, attended the official opening of the new parliamentary year at Christiansborg Palace. The opening of the Danish Parliament, the Folketing, takes place on the first Tuesday of October each year and marks the beginning of a new parliamentary year.
At the official opening of Parliament, Queen Mary wore a burgundy two-piece ensemble by French designer Roland Mouret, consisting of a midi skirt and a belted peplum jacket. She accessorized the outfit with a Christian Dior brooch.

This designer never fails! always so elegantly dressed.
ReplyDeleteAm suprised they are back from Tasmania so soon! no time to grieve.
I guess we don’t know how many days she was back in Tasmania? I am sure she’s been grieving all along, dear 13:50, not something she can finish in even a longer stay in Australia. But yes a pity there’s not more time in their very busy schedule to hang out with her family and enjoy being back in her other home
DeleteMary’s father passed in April and while very sad she has probably been grieving for months and will probably continue to do so.
DeleteThey were in Tasmania this past week.

I think she still misses her father, and still grieving for him. Otherwise looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh, comme j'aime cette tenue, la coupe classique et originale à la fois. la couleur et la ligne sont splendides pour moi.
ReplyDeleteLa Reina Mary, impecable.
ReplyDeletePrinsesse Mary is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first and very natural photo of Mary.
ReplyDeleteAgeing gracefully, beautiful Queen in autumn colours.
ReplyDeletePerfection…the deep wine color, modern peplum, and great accessories all come together for a fabulous outfit. Just my opinion, but I think Catherine would look great in this outfit. The color and peplum would look fantastic and the outfit would be more modern than her typical outfits.
ReplyDeletePB also looks fabulous, as usual, and the colors of her outfit and the King look great together.
I think we have seen Catherine in this actually? You’re right, also a good style for her.
DeleteGorgeous! They both look amazing! Love the turquoise brooch on the burgundy and the peplum jacket and the shoes! Fabulous fit as well. Princess B looks great in the lilac jacket - altho it seems a little large. The hat looks marvelous and the pearl and lapis (or sapphire?) brooch is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteGreat suit and like the headband rather than a hat. Her hair is a good length. Pretty flowers for both ladies. The king in a well fitted suit with a splash of colour in his tie to match the queen.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour and style of Queen Mary’s outfit. With the fab shoes, the length is just about okay but personally I would prefer just a couple of inches shorter. Princess Benedikte never fails to turn out perfectly for the occasion. Lovely photo of her with the King
ReplyDeleteAnnie, your comment made me look agsin … but if you compare Mary’s photo to the model, the hem sits where the designer intended. Firmly midi. The shoes are a pretty style but for my thinking, way too high … I think the skirt would also suit a Letizia type heel or flats.
DeleteVery well fitted suit. She is looking older.
ReplyDeleteAren’t we all? 😁
DeleteNice 22:57. By the nature of time either we are all looking older because indeed we are … or we are doing something to cover up the truth of it. Time marches forward!
DeleteI think Mary looks at her best when not overly made up, and when the photographers don’t edit every flaw before publishing or selling their photos. Mary as she is = lovely.
As does her husband. They are both well into their fifties now. The circle of life continues. Lyra.
DeleteQM looks absolutely fantastic ❤️
ReplyDeleteShe looks wonderfully regally elegant and somehow still very humble. I think it’s the kindness in her eyes and face overall. Hat off!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Anonymous 16:10!
DeleteMary looks fabulous as always. Very sad that Queen Marghretta is not present. HRH Benedict has great taste in clothing and looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary looks beautiful and elegant in this perfectly fitted Roland Mouret dress. I love the fall color--burgundy or mulberry? Wonderful to see Princess Benedikte--always elegantly attired. I feel she is a wonderful support to King Frederik--full warmth and constancy for him as his mother recovers from another bout of bad health.
ReplyDeleteJanet
I like the RM suit but the hemline of the jacket is really wonky. It looks like someone cut out the pattern and sewed it when they were sleepy or drunk. But the burgundy colour is great. The belt looks good and it fits perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt’s deliberately asymmetrical and by its deliberate design interestingly shaped as it flares. Your eyes Sandra see the tiniest imperfections I notice!… I wonder what you do for work to apply this keen eye and those exacting standards. Would love to have a cuppa with you and find out how you see the world! All the best.
DeleteStunning look for Q. Mary. It’s such an interesting design and the fit is perfect. I love her jewelry choices too, combining the vintage turquoise brooch with simple diamond studs. P. Benedikte looks wonderful too. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI like Roland Mouret's creations in general. I remember he made beautiful creations for Megan Markle. The peplum jacket I would not have chosen it. It is so quickly out of fashion again. I remember the PoW wore sometimes a peplum dress when she was a young married princess and it suited her in those days. Anyway, the colour is beautiful. This wine red outfit would look better with a less longer skirt and with a shorter opening in the back and a jacket without a peplum. How many years these bordeaux/wine red, burgundy colours has been worn by Queen Maxima and Queen Mathilde. I still like it, but I can imagine that when a lady has been worn these colours during several seasons in the past as well for clothes as for accessories like handbags and shoes (and hats and gloves) she would like to wear something else. The only new colours which have been added until now are dark aubergine and dark chocolate brown. October is the month that new things like colours appear in the fashion magazines, in boutiques and in the new collections of the big ware houses. I hope to see some more ideas before the end of October.
ReplyDeleteMary looks her best in darker, jewel toned colors like this outfit.
ReplyDeleteShe looks fantastic.
DeleteQueen Mary hits it out of the park everytime
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary rarely buys new, but, when she does, she really delivers on elegance. This is a classic and beautiful two piece. It fits QM to perfection. At first glance I thought her shoes were patent, thinking it was a sheen on the back of the shoe, but it’s a cut out. Little details like that really make an ensemble. Her brooch is just enough color to break up the burgundy. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteLowri.
One can hardly go wrong with Roland Mouret. This proves it. Queen Mary looks splendid here.
ReplyDeleteExquisite look on Queen Mary. The Danes won the lottery with their impressive Australian queen. MR
ReplyDeleteWell Said 👏👏
DeleteThe Queen looks smashing! What a beautiful ensemble. The two piece outfit, is superb. Love the color, very flattering on Mary. The design and style suits her perfectly. She looks stylish, chic and very elegant. Love the color of her shoes. Her brooch looks lovely and very effective, not quite sure what the stones are. Princess Bene looks well groomed and attired, she is always so stylish. Love her single strand pearl necklace. Perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteAnd nobody has comments on her high stiletto's, or is it not necessary in her case ?
