King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are undertaking a two-day State Visit to the Republic of Finland. On the evening of October 6, 2026, President of Finland Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, hosted a State Banquet in the State Hall (Valtiosali) at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki in honour of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
For the occasion, Queen Letizia wore a black velvet gown by Felipe Varela. She first wore the dress in February 2017, during the State Visit of then-Argentine President Mauricio Macri, and wore it again a year later, in November 2018, during the gala dinner held on the occasion of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s State Visit to Spain.
Queen Letizia also wore a floral diamond brooch belonging to Queen SofÃa. In addition to the brooch, she wore two diamond bracelets from the collection known as the “jewels passed down through generations” (joyas de pasar), whose history dates back to Queen Victoria Eugenia.

Stunning
ReplyDeleteBeautiful look from Queen Letizia. Her choice of jewelry is stunning. The bracelets on the cuffs really lifts the dress. The brooch is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI’ve noticed that First Lady has a certain liking for the sleeker evening dress. She wore something similar during their visit to Luxembourg and also during the Danish state visit. It’s a style she looks comfortable in and that suits her.
Lowri.
I simply wished for a bejewelled hair ornament on Queen Letizia, given the fact she'd chosen to not wear a tiara (which is okay and rather considerate when visiting a Republic, although she could wear one should she wish to). Other than that - no complaints.
ReplyDeleteDSC she did go for some heavily impressive diamond across the earrings and brooch! My need to see a tiara has been relieved by examining these gorgeous pieces.
DeleteBoth couples are very striking and I love to see tuxedo tails on the gentlemen.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen wears this fitted velvet gown well and the dark color is perfect to show off the jewels, especially the gorgeous double diamond bracelets, which are always stunning. Not loving the curly hairstyle as much but a small nit.
I very much like the dress on Ms. Innes-Stubb with the offset neckline and interesting sleeve design. My first thought was maybe the color was a bit drab, but I think it actually shows off her dark hair and the yellow sash. Great choice IMO.
Letizia is so thin, I wonder if she ever feels hungry. She looks amazing today.
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia looks amazing. Again. Apart from the grey suit on arrival, all her outfits have been impressive. I’m less impressed by the gown worn by Mrs Stubbs. The overly fussy sleeves take away from the overall appearance imv
ReplyDeleteLetizia et la première dame sont tout simplement magnifiques. Tout le monde semble bien s’amuser.
ReplyDeletePhoto 3 is very interesting. The Finn’s in joke mode and the Spaniards … not getting the joke? Language perhaps?
ReplyDeleteMs. Innes-Stubb looks beautiful, but the gashes in the dress on shoulder and arm, no matter which way I look at them, to my brain they are looking deeply revealing and inappropriate! Like she’s dragged the dress off the shoulder a step too far. Which is so interesting with clothes … a little peek and revealed skin can look a whole lot more daring than a large part fully revealed! She’s showing a whole lot less skin than a fully off the shoulder dress, but the way it sits my brain sees as very daring and a step too far. Interesting effect!
The King and Queen look perfect. Really completely stunning.
In my brain sits one question: how is it inappropriate to reveal arms? We can't see her breasts or underwear or can you anon 3:18. Neither me like the sleeves, but they sure are not inappropriate. Rest of the dress looks divine. Queen Letizia has a very beautiful velvet dress and mamma mia, those gorgeous bracelets!
DeleteThe diamond brooch is stunningly beautiful, as are the gorgeous bracelets on each wrist and the beautiful large diamond earrings, they emanate so much sparkle. I love her gown, she looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe First lady looks equally lovely. I love her up style hair, she looks very elegant.
The winner is the King. And I really wish Letitzia wore a tiara.
ReplyDeleteLove QL's elegant attire and her perfect posture. The dress of the First Lady is a miss, imho. The combination of color, fabric, cut and folds is unfortunate. Add the sash, and the sleeves and bodice folds fight it.
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia looks very regal, and it is a delight to admire the heritage jewellery, but I think an updo would have been the icing on the cake. I don‘t understand the
ReplyDeletedangling bit of hair on the side and, to be honest, the Alice in Wonderland approach
regarding her hair in general. When she was younger, her softer, shorter hair was much more flattering.
🌞 Vieginia
I don’t understand the reference to Alice? Letizia’s hair is beautiful in this style, indeed I agree: very regal.
DeleteLa Reine est resplendissante toute en sobriété, on remarque les fabuleux bijoux
ReplyDeleteLa robe de la première dame est très jolie et surtout elle rayonne.
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look fantastic. Queen Letitzia has maximised the use of diamonds on this great velvet dress in lieu of a tiara. Mrs Stubb wears a beautifully designed and executed dress where the open sleeves, asymmetric neckline and draping all comes together in a flowing movement.
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia is in a different league. Always very beautiful and never disappoints.
ReplyDeleteDespite the beauty of the jewels, I find Q.Letizia's dress too sombre. If the introductory text under the photos didn't mention the dress is made of black velvet I wouldn't have seen it. The diamond bracelets are beautiful but one bracelet is sufficiant for me, 2 bracelets for someone who rarely wears jewelry (unless on state visits) ? Mrs Innes-Stubb wears a very up-to-date dress, completely her style and its suits her.
ReplyDeleteI think the 2 bracelets made the perfect bejeweled cuffs.
DeleteLetizia looks very elegant. Her jewelry is exquisite and really stands out against the black velvet gown. I would prefer her hairstyle without the piece of hair dangling on the right side. I think I would like Mrs. Innes-Stubb’s dress in a different color; I don’t care for this almost flesh-color in this fabric on her. The slashes in the sleeves also are not my favorite, especially from the side view. The asymmetric neckline looks good on her.

Mrs Innes Stubb is normally impeccable. This time I think the dress is completely inappropriate. The designer has sold her The Emperors New Clothes I’m afraid. The extensive rip at the top is not elegant but inappropriately revealing and completely awful. The sleeves would have been elegant if the bodice were correctly sewn up, but with three gaping holes in the top, it’s just mind boggling. The skirt is lovely as is she herself.
ReplyDeleteSuperbe Première Dame comme d’ailleurs son charmant époux !
