The opening of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) took place on 29 September 2026, marking the start of the new parliamentary year — the 2026/27 Riksdag session. The day began with a service at Stockholm Cathedral (Storkyrkan). King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill attended the church service.
Afterwards, the King and Queen, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill attended the opening ceremony of the 2026/27 Riksdag session at the Riksdag building in Stockholm. The King declared the 2026/27 Riksdag session open in the Chamber.

Yes, much has been reported about the relationship between Madeleine and Sofia. I would hope it is not true, but Madeleine has done little through her actions and "looks" to disprove this. As far as fashion, Sophie is my favorite this day, so classis and tailored with just the right length of the skirt. The bow in her hair is the perfect finishing touch.

Anon at 15:36, why do you want to highlight the relationship between Madeleine and Sofia which is actually really good these days? Madeleine doesn't usually make a habit of smiling and chatting at these kinds of events, but in their free time they really enjoy each other's company. Yes, I know!

As for the attire, everyone is beautifully and appropriately dressed, as always. However, I prefere Sofia's outfit - great proportions and the jacket is stylish with its buttons. I wish that Madeleine's skirt were a little bit longer but that's a minor quibble, it's fine like that too. - Mirella

If you look at enough candid pics of the Swedish Royals, you would know that Madeline and Sofia do indeed get along. They don't have to be best friends, but they are family. Pictures only capture a moment in time. Jill

ReplyDeleteThe Swedish royal family are wearing each year black and wihite for the opening of the Riksdag. CP Victoria is wearing the longest dress or skirt and Princess Madeleine is wearing the shortest dress of them all. I am surprised every year that they open the Swedish Parliament so late in the year and not in the beginning of the year but it is their tradition to start the new parliamental year in september. I like Princess Sofia's two pieces by Self Portrait the best. Secondly I like Princess Madeleine's outfit. On the third place I like Queen Silvia's white jacket and hat and the last one is CP Victoria. Her hair is done in a weird updo to wear a sort of headband and a bow in the back of her hair. I do not like her white top with the black belt.
ReplyDeleteEvery country has their own rules when a new session starts. In Scandinavia it's always around the turn of the month in September/October. The opening this year is october 6 in Denmark. October 2 in Norway and September 29 in Sweden. In the Netherland the opening was September 15. In Belgium they have/ will have 3 openings this year September 3 for the vlaams, September 28 for Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and the last for Chambre des Représentants / Kamer van Volksvertegenwoordigers is usually in October. In UK it was May 13 this year. The last one was July 17 2024. PS wearing black and white is something they started using the last 20 year or so. All the outfits are nice but my personal favorite is CP Victoria. Love the belted top and long skirt combo. P Madeleine also looks great in the peplum.

For me all the ladies look lovely and I cannot criticise any of their outfits. If I had to chose I particularly like CPVictorias jacket and skirt with her hair detail.

ReplyDeleteMadeleine's outfit had very interesting style and it suited her so well. Sofia's outfit had also a little retro vibe and her hair have grown really long, down to her back. Victoria's white jacket was okay but I don't care for her hairstyle at all.
