On 29 September 2026, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended the annual congress of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) in Lichtenvoorde. This year’s theme is “We Do It Together”. During the plenary programme, Queen Máxima, in her capacity as Patron of the Oranje Fonds, delivered a speech on the importance of social initiatives.
Queen Máxima subsequently spoke with local government officials and municipal councillors about cooperation between municipalities and social initiatives. The VNG Annual Congress is taking place on 29 and 30 September in the Achterhoek region, with Oost Gelre and Winterswijk serving as host municipalities. The congress focuses on cooperation between municipalities, residents, civil society organisations and other levels of government.

QM attended an important conference where many were smartly dressed—both due to their official roles and because Her Majesty was due to make an appearance—yet she showed up in a baggy, crumpled suit with a messy hairstyle; I am speechless—it was truly beyond casual.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they went to listen to her speech. The pants were a little wrinkled no great tragedy. The blue and brown looks fine. I don't think her hair is that bad either. Just my opinion.
Delete@00.59 Her speech was unintelligible; her Dutch is getting progressively worse because she speaks mainly Spanish at home. In the Netherlands, we don't mind her having an accent, but the general impression is that QM is strongly drawn to life abroad and would prefer to stay there.
DeleteI don’t agree with your message. You are making quite a few assumptions that aren’t supported by what we actually see. Her Dutch is perfectly good, and of course she has an accent, that is hardly surprising when Spanish is her native language.
DeleteRather than focusing on her accent or speculating about where she would supposedly prefer to live, I think it makes more sense to look at the positive contribution and genuine engagement she shows. She clearly makes an effort to participate and connect, and that deserves to be acknowledged.
I’ve also noticed that you make similar comments on another blog. Perhaps it would be fairer to focus on what she actually says and does, rather than drawing conclusions about her language skills, preferences, or intentions without evidence.
Disagree 19:36. She looks perfect for the context and as speaker. Your judgement is harsh I find.
DeleteWhile I like the camel/navy colors here, I find this color on Maxima not very attractive. Of course her lack of hair styling is probably contributing to the overall bland look.
ReplyDeleteYes you are right, she should pull that hair into a ponytail - no extension pls for everyday business - but just listen to her speaking, watch her demeanor, her brains, her engagement and the smile she gives to all this. This is why her weaker points like the hair - well I couldn't care less, because of her personality.
ReplyDeleteConcordo con te!
DeleteHer earrings a gorgeous., the outfit for me is to much loose, thin fabric.
ReplyDeleteLove the Navy color, top and bag, especially her bag, I find this very attractive. I have always liked the Queen wearing Navy. The brown tone combined with Navy is a very interesting combination. One I would never have put together. Personally, I don't like this shade of brown. The Navy combined, I confess to not liking the combination. Regardless, the Queen obviously does, that's all that matters. Her blue stone earrings are of substance.
ReplyDelete@19:36- I totally agree. To me it shows a complete lack of respect to those attending to turn up looking so unkempt, IMO! No lectures on her personality, I have no first hand experience to judge that and doubt if many commentators do.
ReplyDeleteI don’t see how this look is unkempt. There is no lack of respect shown. She’s wearing a suit that fits with a clever contrast and her hair is brushed and clean and neat, she’s speaking to government people and this outfit completely works. If you don’t like her choice of clothes, that’s another thing, and it’s fine and we all have our preferences. But to say she’s unkempt is incorrect.
DeleteWhat is she wearing?
ReplyDeleteVery elegant style.
DeleteA lovely suit and coordinating accessories. Perfect for the occasion without being over the top.
ReplyDeleteHer trousers are pulled up much too high. Her heels are far too high. The color of her blazer clashes with her trousers. Her hair is uncombed. Hopefully, next time she will make a bit more of an effort for the Dutch audience.
ReplyDeleteThe trousers and pants are a perfect colour match on my screen. And her hair is clearly shiny clean and neatly combed. Are you expecting a super human ?!
DeleteIt looks like a suit to me, matching trousers and jacket. Her shoes look gorgeous. If they were lower the trousers would trail on the ground. It’s not her best outfit imo but it’s okay.
DeleteJust not very elegant with the unbttoned jacket
ReplyDeleteHair-shiny, clean and neatly combed - really! Roots showing and straggly!!
