On September 22, 2026, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York. The two queens were photographed sitting side by side during the 81st UN General Assembly. Both queens are in New York this week for their work with the United Nations.
Queen Máxima serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health, while Queen Mathilde serves as an Advocate for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Queen Máxima arrived in New York on September 21 and attended the presentation of the 50-in-5 Awards that evening. The awards recognise individuals and countries working to advance effective digital public infrastructure.

Nice dress for Mathilde. Not a fan for Maximas outfit, her blouse looks like she was in a great hurry it just hangs there. Nice for them to take their work with the UN seriously. All ways lead to New York? hope they accomplished their goal of this visit.

You should look up Queen Maxima and her education/work history. It’s all focused on finance and economics, so she is more than just a royal attending these meetings.
DeleteThey are also there to meet with people like Antonio Guterres (he stops after 10 years being the Secretary general of the UN) and other representatives of all kind of Africa, Asia, etc... all occupied in humanitarian work. This is not visible on the pictures published here, but can be seen on other websites.

DeleteI don’t see a problem with the blouse CSS. It is neat and ironed and coordinated with her orher clothes. She’s there as attendee not star, the clothes are fine.

ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde looks beautiful. She has a natural dignity. Queen Maxima - for me - should stop her face Lifting? She tries hard to remain forever young with her 3 daughters, but she is 50. Why not accept like the other queens and just be herself. She has charme and a lovely smile.
ReplyDeleteStop her face lifthing? You either have had a facelift or you haven’t. Maxima hasn’t, nor does she use botox or fillers like other royal favorites. So, it's time to clean the glasses.

Agree. Often see the fine lines etc on QM face, which I love - full of character and life! I hope she does not go down the route of some other royal ladies who seem to have had ‘help’….

Not a fan of any of these outfits. Like the colours especially since we are in the fall season. So nice to see bright colours and I think the ladies had a chat about what to wear ;)
ReplyDeleteThese two queens are a level above just their monarchic roles. Maxima is making a difference whether comments on this blog are informed or not (and clearly it is mostly uninformed folks who comment). She is not just experienced, but also highly influential (heard her speaking at a World Bank conference, not speaking out of turn here).
ReplyDeleteMathilde is amazing in my view because of the depth she is willing to get into for causes near and dear to her heart. Not easy in International forums, the political pressures from every country and region make her ability to speak as an unbiased monarch the more valuable. Beyond most royal spouses who prefer to stay within their own borders, her work has great value. Unlike with Maxima, I never had an opportunity to see Mathilde’s work directly. But having the direct awareness of these environments, I appreciate her efforts a lot. A whole lot.

I like the fact Maxima most of the time does not have her hair styled. I suppose CP Victoria of Sweden is the same, she makes her bun herself. It's encouraging to note that this does not make them less royal or bad representatives of their countries.
