On September 3, 2026, Queen Mary of Denmark visited the construction site of Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital, the future hospital for children and young people, which is expected to open in 2027. Named after Queen Mary, the hospital will be the first of its kind in the world. Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital is a new addition to Rigshospitalet.
Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital, which will provide a safe and homely environment, aims to develop new knowledge and advance the treatment of children, young people and pregnant women through collaboration with municipalities, general practitioners, hospitals, researchers and other partners in Denmark and internationally.
