On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, accompanied by Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, took part in the traditional “U Cavagnëtu” picnic at Princess Antoinette Park in Monaco. Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella started sixth grade about two weeks ago, and this was the first official engagement they have attended since starting school.
Monaco’s City Hall hosts an annual Monegasque picnic, also known as “U Cavagnëtu,” at Princess Antoinette Park in late August or early September. The event marks the end of the summer season and has been held since 1931. For the occasion, Princess Charlene wore a white printed crepe midi dress by Erdem.

I absolutely love this dress. The style is so sweet and simple, those bat-wing sleeves are precious and the lovely print of butterflies, moths, dragonflies, bees and other insects is artistic and utterly charming. One might say that Spring would be a perfect time to wear it but I think any warm weather season is fine. Charlene is the perfect ambassador for this sweet dress.

Love the Erdem dress, different print is refreshing and the shoe colour is a nice choice. The little princess looks good in pink especially with her pale complexion. I also lie the green/white print dress with the white belt nice sleeves and good length.

DeleteCharlene's dress is beautiful. I love the style, colors on the white background. Her shoes are a pretty color, not quite sure what color exactly. The twins as usual look smart, stylish and well groomed. The pale pink dress is so pretty, perfect choice. Jacque's looks well groomed and smart.
ReplyDeleteMother and daughter are both dressed very beautifully. Now, Princess Gabriella is wearing a very beautiful dress adapted to her age. Prince Albert is looking better than before.It looks like he loosed some weight. Prince Jacques unfortunately is dressed in the same style as his father. He is too young to dress like that. A pic nic is not a formal event, so he could be dressed in a more sportive outfit than the eternally blue blazer and beige pants and I do not mean blue jeans. There is enough choice for young men to dress in beautiful colors and less formal jackets and white shirts like Prince Jacques is always wearing.

DeleteAnnon0808, but then you are not a royal who will inherit a principality. I believe these children know they wear certain clothes for events, just like people have church clothes for Sunday. Otherwise I sense these kids wear kids clothes the majority of the time.

But I still think that kids should generally be dressed as kids as much as possible, save the fancy for when it’s really necessary. I think some royals of far bigger kingdoms do that very well. I don’t think it’s required in Monaco, rather a choice by one or both of the parents.

DeleteNo there is nothing wrong to wear a pantsuit on a funeral, but when all the other queens and princesses, young and older are dressed classic in a dress or a two piece and she is the only one in a pant suit, it is normal that everyone else is finding it not done. I am sure some of the female royals contacted each other to find out what the others intended to wear. I would also be surprised that Princess Charlene does not have a beautiful black dress or ensemble at her disposal and that she didn't had the time to order a new black outfit. Among the royals it is custom to have a complete black outfit ready, just in case.
DeleteCharlene did stand out as the only one not dressed to the dress code. All the staff of the household, the politicians, etc all wore below knee black dresses and the trouser suit did look like a faux pas.

ReplyDeleteJe pense que Jacques voudrait être ailleurs. La robe rose de la Princesse Gabriella est peut être fait par le tailleur de la cour. Je sais que la reine Mathilde faisait faire des petites robes pour la Princesse Eléonore quand elle était toute jeune par le tailleur Saïd Meer qui est(était) le tailleur de la cour et qui faisait parfois des changements aux vêtements de la reine aussi. Il a aussi fait quelques nouveaux vêtement pour la reine Mathilde. Aux Pays-Bas la reine Maxima a à sa disposition tout un étage du palais avec des couturières et personnes qui s'occupent de ses vêtements et ceux des princesses.

Princess Charlene is a breath of fresh air - lovely in every way. Princess Gabriella seems outgoing and self-assured. Prince Jacques seems less comfortable in public settings for his age, but he is doing very well. Prince George appears the same way and is a couple years older than Jaques. These boys , both heirs apparent, are still finding their way and growing their confidence. Let's be nice to them and wish them well.
