On the evening of 5 September 2026, King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida attended the “Opera Goes to Hollywood” concert at the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok. The concert was held to mark the Queen’s 48th birthday celebrations, as well as to open the 28th Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music.
The Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music is an annual performing arts and music festival. The festival brings together a diverse range of performing arts and musical productions by renowned ensembles and artists from countries around the world, including opera, ballet, contemporary dance, symphony concerts and musicals.
Artists from New York City Opera performed alongside the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra under the conductor Constantine Orbelian, presenting a programme that brought together celebrated opera pieces and music associated with classic Hollywood films.
The concert featured more than 20 works performed by an international line-up of vocalists and musicians, including sopranos Marnie Breckenridge and Tatev Baroyan, mezzo-soprano Ekaterine Buachidze, violinist Asi Matathias and cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper.
