Crown Princess Victoria Visits Gili Sea Turtle Reserve in Lombok

From 4–6 September, Crown Princess Victoria visited Indonesia together with representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). State Secretary Diana Janse also took part in the visit. Crown Princess Victoria travelled to Indonesia as part of her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The third day in Indonesia began with a boat trip from Lombok to Gili Meno Island, where Crown Princess Victoria and State Secretary Janse learned about the local community’s work to preserve marine environments and promote sustainable coastal livelihoods. Crown Princess Victoria and State Secretary Janse then visited the Gili Sea Turtle Reserve.

During the visit, Crown Princess Victoria was briefed on the reserve and its efforts to protect endangered sea turtles. The Gili Sea Turtle Reserve, together with members of the local community, works to protect sea turtles and release them back into the ocean. Their aim is to preserve the species and ensure its survival for future generations.
