On 14 September 2026, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark officially disembarked from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog at Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen, marking the end of the Royal Yacht’s sailing season. The King and Queen were welcomed by Nanna Westerby Jensen, CEO of By & Havn, and Harbour Master Christian Kopp.

At Frederik VIII’s Palace, the King and Queen will host the officers of the Royal Yacht Dannebrog for the traditional strygemiddag. The term “strygemiddag” derives from the naval tradition of “striking the command”, meaning that the command pennant is lowered from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog, thereby marking the end of the sailing season.

  1. I find this outfit rather dull and drab. Both items (blazer and skirt) are very long with too much fabric and not flattering on Mary.

How fascinating fashion is that two people can be affected so differently by one outfit. I think the complete opposite Sandra! Mary looks wonderful; there can be nothing drab about cream; and that the lengths are (1) normal on the jacket; (2) romantic and luxurious on the dress.

The dress is very interesting and I’d love to see it without the jacket. I love the colour of Mary’s shoes - is that colour coming in for winter I wonder? Her handbag is cute but most beautiful of all: the flowers! Wonder what she does with all the flowers she receives!

The color of Queen Mary's shoes is a shoe color worn by many royal ladies for quite some time now. These shoes are not new. I've seen Queen Mary wearing them before. Qs for the flowers she receives, maybe she does like Queen Mathilde : all the flowers she receives when doing her visites she distributes them among the home for the elderly in Brussels and also among the churches when she receives a lot of flowers.

So effortlessly elegant. Unmatched in my opinion. Others try hard, to good effect, but Mary is a natural.

She looks very elegant but I must confess that I'm quite bored of these headbands-as-hats. Bring back proper hats, I say! Mary used to wear quite a lot of them compared to other Princesses, even when it was the height of the fascinator era and brimmed hats were less popular.

Oh I am the opposite I love the headbands, keeps the hair out of their face and not as formal as a hat.

I agree about the headbands. I don't find them at all flattering. - Ellie

Hmm I mostly agree here. Bring back the hats! My hesitation is simply that at this time of year finally the UV is low enough to enjoy some sun with limited or no damaging UV and it’s a relief after many months of fiercely protecting the skin and a lot of hats, in the short window before winter hats are needed. So headbands for this season feel like just enough, a freedom. Aside from that, I’m definitely on team hat!

I am on the fence about hats. They are a bit outdated imo because at one time they were worn daily and to church, they had a purpose. Modern times with most people having cars are not in the elements so no need for them except in the summer. So I feel they are left over from past eras which don’t fit the modern hair styles . I like hats but it does not say elegant any longer.

  8. Queen Mary looks great in this cool and summery outfit. It’s lack of colour is saved by the classy shoes and bag

Beautiful ivory outfit that allows for the patterned headband and shoes to steal the show. Also love the gold anchor brooch…lovely nautical touch for the end of their sailing tour.

Im on the fence regarding the fabrics in this outfit, i like the color and the shoes/bag, but something is not working for me. Even if she is, in my opinion, the best at mixing skirts with blouses/blazers. Maybe if we could see the blouse beter?

  13. I love this outfit. The individual pieces combined work in brilliantly. I'm not sure of the color of these shoes, but they are gorgeous. Her bag looks great, nice addition. Love the brooch, perfect addition. This colorful headband for a change is lovely. She looks very stylish and elegant. King Frederick looks wonderful in uniform.

Now that the model photo of the dress has been added I like it even more. Mary looks wonderful in this outfit and the dusty pink colour of the shoes is lovely. What I cannot begin to understand is the shoes on the model! What are they???

I hadn’t heard of Camilla and Marc before; Australian brand so I’m sure they’ll be glad to see Mary wearing their garment. It’s simply tailored from the back and the front is very interesting. I really like it - but find the model’s shoes totally inexplicable. Looking through their current collection it seems everything is quite edgy and nothing else appeals - so I thin Mary is showing one of their few highly feminine garments.

A lot of commenters are talking here of a jacket and a skirt and top = three pieces, but it is a dress and a coat she is wearing so only 2 pieces. I like it, but I do not see the connection with the yacht, the water, .... Maybe it has a good connection with her husband's uniform. To me It looks more like an ensemble to wear in the evening (with the right jewelry) when going to the theatre, a concert, a diner party.....
