On 15 September 2026, Crown Princess Victoria attended the 2026 Björn Carlson’s Baltic Sea Prize ceremony at Operahuset in Stockholm. The prize was presented by the Crown Princess to Associate Professor of Marine Ecology Henrik Svedäng of the University of Gothenburg. Henrik Svedäng was awarded the prize for his pioneering research in marine ecology, fisheries science and ecosystem-based management.
The prize was established by the Björn Carlson Baltic Sea Foundation to recognise and facilitate initiatives that contribute to a healthier Baltic Sea. The prize is awarded annually to researchers or other individuals who, through research, the dissemination of knowledge or policy work, have made significant contributions to the Baltic Sea’s environment.
