On August 11, 2026, the Duchess of Gloucester attended the anniversary event of the Corps of Royal Military Police (CMP) at Southwick Park, near Fareham. The Duchess took part in the event in her role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Adjutant General’s Corps. The Royal Military Police have served in Korea, Malaysia, Ireland, the Falklands, the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Duchess of Gloucester was given an insight into the history of the CMP through a tour of a specially constructed time tunnel, which demonstrated the role of the CMP throughout the past century. Later, the Duchess unveiled a portrait of herself inside historic Southwick House, the site from which D-Day was launched. In 1926, the Military Mounted Police and Military Foot Police were amalgamated to form the Corps of Military Police (CMP).
Well the shoes are certainly sensible and safe.

DeleteLooking at the trench coat and the umbrella's I think they received a bit of the rain which we miss for such a long time. Please send us bit of rain tomorrow instead of the 34 degrees C° which are promised by the weather forecasts. It is not far just on the other side of the Channel.

DeleteThe red hat and scarf look great against the tan coat and obviously coordinates with the soldiers. The handbag and shoes are a miss for me, but the duchess is otherwise dressed classy as usual.

DeleteHow wonderful the Duchess looks! Love the red hat and traditional trench coat--this combination coordinate not only well together but are similar to the uniforms of the soldiers. Her choices are a lovely way to honor the event and the CMP. I happen to love her woven straw handbag--very much a summer staple. As for the shoes the Duchess is wearing--please remember this an 80 year old lady who is out and about in the rain--a bit of safety that might sacrifice style is perfectly fine with me and I think she made an excellent choice.

I can't remember the last time it rained,but I'm glad it did somewhere in England... here's hoping some comes my way. The duchess of Gloucester rarely wears high heels...very sensible of her...no foot problems as she ages with elegance
ReplyDeleteHer red silk scarf and accompanying colored hat, fabulous. Good on her for wearing shoes she needs, comfort wise for her feet.
ReplyDeleteAbbigliamento adeguato per una giornata di pioggia e anche un po’ fresca, non mi convince la borsa di paglia che anche se rigida non si adatta all’outfit e alla giornata. Invece i guanti non li sopporto proprio.

Detto ciò la duchessa è sempre adorabile.

I agree with Virginia about the planning, the colours, the jewelry I cannot see. I do not agree about the straw handbag, the shoes which I don't like (comfort shoes are very fashionable too these days). The gloves are always necessary in Britain.
