On August 2, 2026, Queen Letizia of Spain attended the closing ceremony of the 16th edition of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, held at the La Misericordia Cultural Centre in Palma. The festival was launched 16 years ago as Spain’s first online film festival, with a mission to introduce audiences to the best international films that could not find a place in cinemas.
In Mallorca, the festival has welcomed prominent international figures such as Liv Ullmann, Michael Douglas, Judi Dench, J.A. Bayona, and Ken Loach, as well as leading Spanish directors. The Queen presented the Master of Cinema 2026 award to film composer Alexandre Desplat. For the occasion, the Queen wore a Rioja asymmetric ruched midi dress by Carolina Herrera.

ReplyDeleteYour comment had me looking back to the lady in blue. I actually think she has chosen a dress which is very flattering for her, but to contrast its puffiness, if she were to tie her hair back and wear sleeker shoes eg flat brown sandals or ballerinas, it would look fabulous.
DeleteI do not understand one can like a very unflattering dress like the one worn by the lady in blue. At first the dress is too long, secondly the balloon sleeves are making her broader than she is. And finally the waist which sits too high. There is a queen who constantly must read on this blog she is high waisted and that her designer should make her dresses differently. Lucky she never wore a dress as ugly as the blue one. A different hair- or shoe style cannot change anything.
Delete@11:06, What I see are two puffy sleeves on each side of very unhappily accentuated two breasts that look like .... well, two further puffs thanks to this impossible design. I am puzzled how these puffinesses could be contrasted by wearing other shoes or another hairstyle? This would be a possibility only if shoes and hair were even worse than the dress.
DeleteOh dear! Well, it’s a lovely colour but……. One shouldered top with plain skirt would be fine, slashed skirt with a plain top would be too. Queen Letizia’s arms may be described as toned but I don’t think they improve her appearance at all.

DeleteAh I respond totally differently, mine is a WOW, what a body, which is obviously trained over a long time, and absolutely no shame in showing it. She doesn’t look like a body builder but a woman in great shape.

DeleteNot every Queen can wear a dress like this, not only because they don't have the body to wear it, but because it would be considered as not done in their country.
DeleteMaybe because she is the Queen of a hot country she is allowed to wear a dress like this. I remember this film festival with Michael Douglas (2025 or was it 2024 ?) when she wore a silvery dress and was much more covered up but the cut of the dress and a bit of imagination gave the impression that she was the movie star who was present to receive an award herself.
Erm ... why should someone belonging to a royal family not have a trained, well shaped/muscled body? Who says that this is "unroyal"?
DeleteHer arms are trained and it is normal that people say she has the arms of a body builder. The comment is not rude but the truth. I don't understand what a queen is trying to prove by showing off a trained body. She is not a movie star or a sports athlete but a queen. She is certainly not acting regal that's for sure.

DeleteWow, the Queen looks fabulous! The dress is gorgeous on her, both the maroon colour and fit and style. She looks like she is fit too, her arms are muscular and toned. I love her sandals even though they are slip on sandals. They have just enough heel to elongate her foot, leg. Just a great look for such an event!
ReplyDeleteShe is fabulous. Also my shoe hero, showing just how to dress “to the nines” without high heels. As a podiatrist, I cannot stand to see the high shoes of many royals and celebrities, knowing what such tight, pointed, high shoes do to feet, legs, our stability, balance, spines, posture, etc … and long for fashion to change its view on what makes women’s feet elegant! Men have had it so much better with predominantly flat, comfortable shoes being seen as elegant for them.

DeleteIt is not only the height of the heels one must take into account. When the feet are not well supported like by wearing very flat sandals or ballerina's it is as bad as wearing too high heels. Queen Letizia is wearing a little heel here which is OK, but she is wearing slippers with no strap behind the heel. This shoe type does not stay well in place. The muscles of the feet and toes must work very hard to keep the slippers on the feet.
DeleteThere must be debate in the podiatry community as my podiatrist, while disapproving of very high heels worn for long periods, is clear that totally flat shoes are the worst thing for feet especially ballerinas. She thinks they should be banned for children.

DeleteWhat would she do in Ceuta ? The authorities there have a lot on their mind for the moment. They have no time to receive a queen and make sure there is enough security to protect her.
