On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Princess Anne watched a rehearsal for the 2026 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Redford Barracks in Edinburgh. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is held each August as part of the Edinburgh Festivals. This year's production is titled A Call to Gather and features performers from around the world, including those from New Zealand, Qatar, and the United States. The event is due to begin on Friday.
More than 800 performers will take part in this year's show on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade throughout the event's run. The 2026 line-up includes the German Army Band, the New Zealand Army Band, the Qatar Police Academy Band and Drill Team, the U.S. Army Field Band, and the Vancouver Police Pipe Band.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual series of military performances featuring the British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and international military bands, and artistic performance teams on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle in Scotland's capital. The Princess has served as Patron of the event since 2006 and often meets with international performers during rehearsals.

Her tartan skirt has glorious colors. She looks warm and snug. She is a force, her work ethic her incredible, I admire her greatly.
ردحذفWe all admire Princess Anne, but this is chiefly a fashion blog, and this photo is an excellent example for what I mean by mixing the old with the new. Her handbag is visibly dated and the whole ensemble would look so much better if she invested in some contemporary accessories. She is a mayor working royal and not on a private outing.

There does not exist any unwritten or written code for major royals to refresh their garderobe according to newest fashion. This is not part of what makes them respected and recognized in their role. And the topic of this blog, as I understand it, is talking about how a person looks in a given outfit, and not the age of that outfit. For me, her greatest drawback as far as looks are concerned are not her outfits but her hairstyle, and this not because it is old-fashioned but because it looks highly unfavourable. Old outfits do not necessarily look bad, only if someone is keen on seeing newest fashion.

I wonder why those who make this remark each time do not notice that they keep repeating something that everybody knows ...
حذفYeah, misunderstanding. There’s no reason a Royal has to be totally in vogue. Showing up neatly dressed as Anne always is is perfectly acceptable.
حذفI agree with anonymous 17:20. Especially about the "hard working royal". In other countries there are also hard working royals. But everybody knows this so why each time her photo appears it must be repeated.
حذفThe navy blue top “tattoo support group” first misled me into thinking there was a team there listening to the trauma associated with getting or having unwanted tattoos… then of course remembered, ah ya, the Edinburgh Tattoo!! … it’s a lifelong dream of mine to attend it.
