On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited the Tokyo National Museum in Taito Ward, Tokyo, where they viewed the special exhibition Kukai and the Treasures of Shingon: Celebrating the 1,250th Anniversary of the Birth of Kobo Daishi. The special exhibition is a belated celebration of the 1,250th anniversary of Kūkai’s birth, an event officially marked in 2023.
The Standing Statues of Shō-Kannon, Brahma and Indra (“Niken Kannon”) were once the principal objects of worship for rituals held in the Jinshōden Hall of the Imperial Palace to pray for the physical well-being of the Emperor. The rituals were later moved to the Niken area of the Seiryōden Hall, which gave the statues the name “Niken Kannon.”

ReplyDeleteI think the Emperor should emulate the tailoring of the King of Spain suits. Is it that difficult to find a good tailor? Just a rhetorical question.
I do not think the Emperor will find a good tailor in Japan. As well as for the Empress and her daughter the style and cut of their clothes are sometimes a bit better, in general they stick to an older way of dressmaking and so are the suits of the Emperor. One can say the same of their hairstyle.

DeleteI think the Empress has worn that blazer already before with a matching skirt (I could be wrong, though). Now with trousers. Very versatile. They both look well rested from their short summer break at Nasu Imperial Villa.

The Empress does look lovely in her pant suit. She always look good in them. Interesting that both she an Catherine, Princess of Wales quite often wear tailored jackets and/or coats that have a similar white design or trim with many different pastel colors. They tend to dress neatly, dignified and play it safe in the fashion world. The fabrics the Empress wears always appear to be superb and of the highest quality.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautifully tailored grey pantsuit, with white trim. Love her grey accessories. The pearl necklace is delicate and very attractive. She wears this shade of grey well.
