The Emperor and Empress Host the Recipients of the 82nd Japan Art Academy Awards

On July 6, 2026, Emperor Naruhito attended the 82nd Japan Art Academy Awards Ceremony at the Japan Art Academy Hall in Tokyo. Following the ceremony, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako welcomed the award recipients and newly appointed members to the Imperial Palace. The Japan Art Academy is Japan's highest official artistic institution.

Before the gathering, the 12 award recipients, including architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of the architectural firm SANAA, introduced their work, the tools of their trade, and their artworks. Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko, Princess Aiko and Princess Kako, joined the Emperor and Empress in viewing the award-winning works.

      She is capable of both international and Japanese dressing, and does both superbly. You can’t hold an ancient culture strongly and also renew it?!

    It’s lovely to see the cousins being part of the event. Both dressed modestly.
    HIM really does know how to wear a skirt suit. She is always dressed and presented well and elegantly.
