Queen Sofía Attends Conference on the 250th Anniversary of U.S. Independence

On July 6, 2026, Queen Sofía of Spain attended a conference at the Teatro Real in Madrid on the crucial contributions of Bernardo de Gálvez and Francisco de Saavedra to the American Revolution. The event was held as part of the America&Spain250 initiative, marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.

Following the conference, Queen Sofía attended the world premiere of the musical work Gálvez Fantasy, dedicated to Bernardo de Gálvez, a key figure in Spain's support for the independence of the Thirteen Colonies during the reign of King Charles III. Queen Sofía serves as Honorary President of the activities organized as part of the America&Spain250 initiative.
