The audience was attended by Teresa Prieto Leache, Jesús Ulayar, and Beatriz Iruretagoyena Toca, participants in the documentary and descendants of ETA victims.

Gosh it looks so Spanish, I love it, especially her shoes with the tie versus the strap like Queen Matilde.

Queen Mathilde's shoes were a Spanish brand too.
The lady in the chique brown dress is also wearing shoes with ankle straps. I think it is fashion every summer in Spain because when there are pictures of Queen Letizia taken in a group with other Spanish ladies, many of them wear shoes or espadrilles with ankle straps.

Cute summer dress. It gives me BBQ vibes with the rick rack and espadrilles tho. Maybe not great for a professional meeting however and it looks a little big on her small frame - off the rack is what comes to mind. Not particularly Queenly IMO.

Is a queen obliged to wear a certain style? Can she not wear relaxed summer clothes for a relaxed meeting?

“Off the rack” forms a huge part of Letizia’s wardrobe. She wears a lot of high street Spanish brands which are in the reach of many Spaniards, and I love this about her.

Maybe it depends where in Spain. I had a barbecue in Spain once. We had a day trip to the Abbey of Monserrat, in the morning we went to visit the wine cellars of red rioja wines and also those of the Spanish cava Codorniu (the best cava there is). At noon the bus stopped in a place of which I forgot the name and the whole group of tourists were lead into an orchard where we sat down under the trees and received a delicious Spanish barbecue. There was paella, fish, chicken and other meat. The meat and the fish were prepared on the barbecue fire, the paella was served as a side dish together with other side dishes and all sorts of salads. All the food was very delicious.

Well my Spanish neighbours from Malaga they told me about the barbecues they held in the summer with their family each year when they returned home for the holidays. But they don't live in apartements there. In my country it is also forbidden to organize a barbecue on the terras of an apartement. I can imagine with the high temperatures there are in the South of Europe and the many fires it is not possible anymore to have a barbecue. So, I am lucky I still had the chance to participate at a Spanish barbecue several years ago.

  3. Sur les deux dernières photos, je trouve que la jeune femme vêtue d’une robe marron clair est très chic ; je serais curieuse de connaître le nom de son créateur ?!

Cute dress and espadrilles but the outfit feels much more appropriate for an outdoor casual event, not a business meeting inside the palace IMO

I agree. I think she is way too casual. There is nothing wrong with her outfit, it´s just the wrong choice for the occasion.

19:07 you’re cracking me up, imagining you know more than the Queen of Spain as to what she should wear when! Ha ha ha. I assume it was a joke?

Gee I don’t see BBQ just because of rickrack. This dress has lots of fabric and I especially like the white piping around the arm holes, along with the applique makes a nice appropriate summer dress that fits well.

    Yes to the dress.

  8. This is a very distinctive dress, the shoulder embroidery is quite interesting. The white border circular to the arm holes is a wonderful addition, and again interesting. The Applique is pretty and adding interest to the body of the skirt, otherwise probably overall rather bland look, basic black. I like this dress very much, I feel it suits the Queen well. The skirt has nice swish and movement, very feminine. Yes there is plenty of fabric but with this dress, I like it. I also don't feel the dress is too casual, she looks smashing!

BBQs are very common where I live in Europe, typically outdoors on open wood fires in public nature spots, but many people have a small bbq on their apartment balcony in summer too.

The American barbecues are very different than the European, unless maybe in Texas where they prefer juicy T-bone steaks instead of hamburgers.
