On 15 July 2026, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía visited the archaeological site of Empúries, accompanied by young people taking part in the programmes of the Princess of Girona Foundation. The visit formed part of the programme surrounding the 2026 Princess of Girona Awards, during which the Princess and Infanta Sofía were joined by participants in the Foundation's youth programmes.
The archaeological site of Empúries is the most important Greco-Roman archaeological site on the Iberian Peninsula and the only one where the remains of both a Greek city (Emporion) and a Roman city (Emporiae) coexist. The Greek settlement of Emporion was founded in 575 BC by settlers from Phocaea.
The Princess and Infanta toured the archaeological excavations in the northern section of the ancient Greek city. There, they met students taking part in the 80th Empúries Archaeology Course, a programme designed for upper-level undergraduate and master's students of Archaeology and History.
Later, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, together with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, attended the presentation of the conclusions of the Youth Advisory Council (Consejo Asesor Joven – CAJ), where practical and measurable proposals addressing the main challenges facing young people were presented.
For the occasion, Queen Letizia wore a floral-print dress by Hugo Boss. Princess Leonor wore a pink linen blazer by Mirto, while Infanta Sofía wore a white blouse paired with green wide-leg linen trousers by Rivera.

Leonor is wearing a third jacket in a row. Isn't it too hot and too formal for an outdoor event under the burning sun. Her parents are even dressed more casual. Black espadrilles on the Queen look too harsh in combination with this nice light summer dress, plus those straps cut her legs.

Paloma.
Anon 19.06 Thank you for your very eloquent and articulate description of this archaeological site, I found the description of your visit, fascinating . Thanks so much, I intend to research!
DeleteLovely and interesting blouse on Infanta Sofía, the composition with the trousers is very nice too. As is Leonor's light, probably linen jacket. Letizia wears Hugo Boss, thankfully so different from Zimmermann and she looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNobody, not a single person wears a sun hat ... shocking. I hope the people who work there do, but they removed them, because the royals are bare headed. They should wear hats, as a good example, for the sake of everybody's skin ...
The sisters are just so lovely. I really enjoy seeing photos of them together. summery and cool and fashionable clothing.
ReplyDeleteBlack accessories with a white foral dress ... weird and so wrong. A big no from me. The 2 girls and king look great
ReplyDelete“So wrong”? - or a woman’s own valid choice for her own feet?! The dress seems to be a black and white print and probably any colour shoe will coordinate well including black or white.
