On July 23, 2026, the Belgian Royal Household issued a statement regarding Princess Eléonore's higher education. Princess Eléonore of Belgium, the youngest of the four children of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, will begin a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences at University College Utrecht (UCU), the honours college of Utrecht University, in September.
The three-year, English-taught program allows students to design their own curriculum by choosing courses from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Princess Eléonore will also take her courses in English. Upon completion of her studies, she will earn either a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Utrecht University.

The first photo is not flattering at all.
ReplyDeleteOf course not. The photo is taken at the state banquet when the Emperor and Empress of Japan were in Belgium. She sat at the table where the sun shined in the eyes of the guests, she was not alone to close her eyes. There were other guests who also had to close their eyes for the strong sunshine.
DeleteRude comment about a lovely young woman, obviously squinting into the glare of the sun.
DeleteOh I LOVE it! A Princess full of character and individuality which is so precious in a young person. “You can put a tiara on me but don’t you touch my hair!” Absolutely a gorgeous natural photo - and princess.
Delete17:24 - I agree! I think it’s fun to see an unscripted moment in time rather than a perfectly posed photo, as we see most often. She’s a true beauty and I love her fashion in both photos. Congrats on her next chapter and hope she has fun at college!
DeleteI actually really like it, although respect that opinions differ! I think it is cute, with a human touch added to these royal functions I often think are pompous and unnecessary. - Ellie
Delete100% Ellie!
DeleteQuelle magnifique princesse ; tous mes encouragements pour ces prochaines études !
ReplyDeleteElle est magnifique

Congratulations. Make sure you have some fun as well
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
ReplyDeleteAlways dressed well, her mom and sister are great examples for her.
ReplyDeleteOh wonderful news, and great for the Princess. I think she has a real quiet elegance and style about her. Both photos are lovely, the first one appears she is looking into the rays of the sun. Her skin is beautiful and the blue of her eyes, prominent, beautiful features. . The 2nd photo, she looks so much like her beautiful mother, what a gorgeous smile, she is a real beauty. A wonderful photo, I have never seen her quite like this caught by the camera, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFantastic news. Young people these days are so lucky to have the opportunity to take courses like these which don't require you to make a choice at the start. In my time you started a course, and you'd only find out during the second or third year whether you were suited or not, then you'd have to apply to another department and drop out from your current major. Universities have come a long way since then, and I am just a generation below the princess'.

I noticed that too T. That she can come out with a Bachelor of Arts OR Science. I would have loved that.
DeleteIn Belgium and probably the majority of the European universities everything has changed very much during the last 5 years maybe ? The way one can study, first a bachelor then a master and possibilities to add or to change something after 3 years is becoming the universal system. They receive a certificate at the end of the bachelor and then at the end of the master they receive the diploma. In certain categories the student can go further and studying one or two more years to receive a certificate or diploma of a more specialized training in the same category.
